Red Dead Redemption 2 is Finally Coming to PC

Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally coming to PC after almost a year of availability on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There have been rumors circulating for a while that Rockstar’s Western title would be heading to PC at some point in the near future. Truthfully, it’s not an unexpected move to make given that Grand Theft Auto 5 eventually made a similar jump after arriving on PS3 and Xbox 360. Besides, PC players have been chomping at the bit to ride off into the sunset in Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s been clear for a while that Rockstar is focused on continuing to grow the Red Dead Online component of the game following the launch of the title last year. In fact, it’s so focused on the online portion of the game that it won’t be releasing any single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. While that’s a disappointing realization for those that have completed the story, Rockstar has confirmed that PC players will soon be able to partake in the adventures of Arthur Morgan.

Rockstar officially confirmed today that Red Dead Redemption 2 is on its way to PC. Those that have been awaiting this announcement can mark their calendars now, because the Western game drops across a medley of launchers on November 5, 2019. Just which platforms will it be available?

According to the Rockstar website, it’ll be available on the official Rockstar Launcher (as one would expect), with a number of fantastic pre-order incentives that include two free games. Players could select from a few titles, including Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Bully: Scholarship Edition, L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition, and Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition. If none of those are catching one’s eye then there are a number of other launchers that players can pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2 through as well.

Players can “pre-order at the Epic Games store, Greenman Gaming, the Humble Store, GameStop and additional digital retailers” beginning on October 23rd. Pre-ordering will net eager consumers a bonus of 25 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online. Finally, Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive on Steam this December, with the game also being made available on Google Stadia alongside its launch later this year.

It’s great to see Rockstar continuing to push Red Dead Redemption 2, especially given that it was easily one of the best games released last year. With Sony also taking PS4’s cross-play initiative out of beta and opening it up to the public, it’s entirely possible that aspiring cowpokes across platforms will be able to interact with each other online. Here’s hoping that Rockstar is looking into such an idea, at least.
