The latest episode of Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series takes aim at Red Notice, roasting the painfully average and brainless Netflix movie. Written, directed and produced by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the action comedy centers on FBI Agent John Hartley as he reluctantly works with renowned art thief Nolan Booth to track down fellow notorious criminal The Bishop and a collection of priceless eggs dating back to Cleopatra. Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot lead the cast of Red Notice alongside Chris Diamantopoulos, Ritu Arya, Ivan Mbakop, Vincenzo Amato and Rafael Petardi.

Development on Red Notice first began at Universal Pictures with Johnson and Thurber re-teaming for their third project together following Central Intelligence and Skyscraper, both of which were produced by the studio. Netflix would later acquire the rights to the title and give it a $200 million budget, making it the largest production for an original title at the streamer to date, surpassing that of fellow Reynolds-starrer 6 Underground. The film hit select theaters and Netflix this past November to primarily negative reviews from critics.

Just a month since the film’s release, Screen Junkies is setting its sights on Red Notice for the latest episode of its Honest Trailers series. The video highlights the painfully average nature of the Netflix film, its various plot holes and predictable nature. Check out the funny video below:

Red Notice marked something of a curiosity for audiences and Hollywood throughout its development as the film ballooned to be Netflix’s most costly production and the first proper pairing of three of the industry’s biggest stars, with Johnson and Reynolds having previously worked together in a brief capacity for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Unfortunately, much like Reynolds’ previous streaming project 6 Underground, the film would largely be seen as another critical dud, devoid of much creativity and placing all of its value squarely on the shoulders of its three leads. Red Notice’s Honest Trailer properly points out a number of the film’s biggest problems, including its big twist of Johnson’s John Hartley actually being the real Bishop, a nice attempt at diversifying his characters if it wasn’t for its predictable nature.

Despite the film’s negative critical reception, Red Notice has still been a hit amongst viewers, who have given it a 92 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a stark contrast to its 35 percent score from critics. Audiences have also flocked to boost the movie to become Netflix’s most-watched ever, surpassing Bird Box, which has kept the streamer interested in engaging talks with the cast and Thurber for a potential sequel. Those who still have yet to watch the film can catch Red Notice on Netflix now.
