According to one Reddit user, their Funko Pop! collection comes above most other things in life, including their marriage.

“Am I The A**hole?” (or AITA for short) is probably one of Reddit’s best-known subreddits, with many of its posts periodically turning social media outlets into a microcosm of philosophy classrooms everywhere, with countless disagreements. However, if there’s one thing AITA followers can agree on, its that any post beginning with “everyone is going to think this is fake” is going to be a good one.

Take one Redditor’s post about their Funko Pop! collection and marriage, for example, which is such a wild ride that it almost doesn’t matter whether it’s true or not. In the post, the Redditor explains that they have a Funko Pop! collection numbering in the thousands, which is probably enough to make a warehouse look empty in comparison. According to the Redditor, collecting Funko Pop! figurines has been their hobby for six years and they’ve even received the figures as gifts from their wife, who they’ve been in a relationship with for two years.

Recently, the Redditor says that they’ve been spending about 500$ per month to expand their collection, which they don’t consider to be an issue because both they and their wife work decent-paying jobs. Their wife is not happy, however, and asks the Redditor to put their hobby on pause or at least limit their Funko Pop! spending to purchasing three a month. The Redditor disagrees and an argument ensues that ends with their wife issuing an ultimatum: the Funko Pop! figures or their marriage.

In the end, the Redditor chooses the Pops. Though they explain that they’re expecting divorce papers any day now, they still take to Reddit to ask that one, classic question: am I the a**hole?

According to Reddit and Twitter, the answer is yes, with many commenters stating that they should probably examine their hoarding habit more closely. While relationship ultimatums generally aren’t a productive way of resolving communication issues — especially if the choice is between preserving the relationship and a relatively harmless hobby — considering how much this Redditor is spending on their hobby during a time of financial insecurity, perhaps it’s in the best interests of both parties that this couple breaks up.
