Bravo has announced a brand-new spin-off series focusing on Kandi Burruss from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The singer/songwriter has already produced several spin-off shows with Bravo in the past. First, there was Kandi Factory from 2012, which focused on finding pop’s next superstar. After Kandi Factory came Kandi’s Wedding a series of episodes centered on Kandi and Todd’s wedding, and Kandi’s Ski Trip, focusing on a ski trip that they took with their entire family.
Before Kandi Burruss joined RHOA season 2 back in 2009, she was known for being a part of the girl group Xscape. The group originally got together in 1992 but went their separate ways in 1998. Kandi went on to create solo music and wrote several songs for other well-known artists, such as TLC and NSYNC. However, Xscape reunited in 2017 and most recently appeared on an episode of Verzuz together. Kandi and her band may be getting back together, but she’ll always have time for reality TV.
As reported by Variety, Kandi Burruss has a new spin-off series in the works at Bravo, which will center around her family restaurant Old Landy Gang (OLG). The working title of the new series is Kandi OLG Project, which will aim at featuring Kandi and her family growing their restaurant empire. Kandi, her husband Todd, her mother Mama Joyce, and her two aunts, Nora and Bertha, will be a part of the show as well. However, they won’t be the main focus. According to the report, “the new series follows the staff in and out of the restaurant, witnessing how workplace slights bleed into their social lives.” The cameras will follow Kandi and her staff as they work together to make their restaurant dreams come to a reality.
While Kandi, who appeared on RHOA season 13, and her family will show up from time to time, it seems like the staff’s personal lives will be the focus of the new series. The report also noted that “everyone at OLG has a passion – be it for dancing, comedy or just to follow in Kandi’s mogul footsteps, and these dreams can get in the way of running food and ensuring customers don’t leave those dreaded one-star Yelp reviews.” The social lives of the Old Lady Gang staff will take center stage as they are “constantly flirting with the cute clientele – and each other.” Kandi will learn how to keep her staff’s personal lives from bleeding into their work ethic. The fans will get to see Kandi run the OLG restaurant while also getting into the mix of her staff’s social lives.
Kandi Burruss’ new Old Lady Gang-based reality show will premiere sometime in late 2021. By the way it was described, the new series is similar to the very successful Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spin-off Vanderpump Rules. If the viewers enjoy Kandi’s new series, VPR is going to have some competition. Could a possible name for the new series be Burruss Rules or Kandi Rules? For now, the fans of Real Housewives of Atlanta will have to wait and see.
