Rick & Morty The 5 Most Useful & 5 Most Useless Inventions Rick Ever Made

The first useless invention Rick has ever made is Abradolf Lincler. Abradolf was created in season 1 episode 11 “Ricksy Business” in which Rick and Summer throw a huge party at their house while Beth and Jerry leave for a sinking titanic tour. Rick it would be a good idea to try and create the most superior leader. Combining the DNA of Hitler and Abraham Lincoln, he created this humanoid mess. While Rick and everyone else thought Abradolf Lincler wanted revenge on Rick, he actually just wanted Rick to accept him. Rick made a human being with feelings and left him alone, which just made for a sad story more than a successful invention.

9 Useful: Grappling Shoes

These grappling shoes Rick invented were first seen in the Pilot episode of Rick and Morty. Rick tells Morty they are going on a mission in search of mega-tree seeds. Morty was given the grappling shoes by Rick so he could scale walls very easily. Morty attempts to walk over a wall but breaks his legs instead because Rick forgot to tell Morty to turn the boots on. These shoes would be useful in the real world. People would not have to use elevators anymore or train vigorously to climb a mountain.

8 Useless: Interdimensional Cable Box

When Rick is bored in season 1 episode 8 “Rixty Minutes,” he makes an inter-dimensional cable-box. With every show on the multiverse at their fingertips, the family came across shows they never knew existed; one even being a successful talk-show hosted by Jerry. This inter-dimensional cable-box would be amazing to have.

With every TV show at your disposal, you would never want to leave and that is exactly the problem. That is why this invention is useless and borderline dangerous. It would take up all of your time and you would never leave the couch. People think we watched too much TV now, but with this box, no one would ever stop.

7 Useful: Cognition Amplifier

Another useful invention Rick has made is the cognition amplifier. In season 1 episode 2 “Lawnmower Dog,” Jerry complains that Snuffles, their dog, is too stupid. Rick does Jerry a favor and creates the amplifier. Of course, Snuffles becomes too smart and wants to taker over the world. The cognition amplifier could be used both for good and evil obviously, but how would the world change? The human race could find a cure for cancer, create flying cars for everyone, maybe even come to world peace, but in the end, it would probably be used for evil.

6 Useless: Love Potion

In season 1 episode 6 “Rick Potion #9,” Rick and Morty’s lives change forever. In this episode, Morty wants his crush, Jessica, to like him. Before the annual flu-season dance, Morty asks Rick to make him a love potion. While Morty has no problem talking to Jessica, he should not have used a love potion to force her to. The potion resulted in making the whole world turn into Cronenbergs. If a love potion actually existed, it would make a lot of people not be able to make their own decisions and basically be brainwashed for the rest of their lives.

5 Useful: Shrink Ray

Another useful invention from season one is the shrink ray that the audience first saw in episode 3 ” Anatomy Park.” In this episode, when Rick and Morty shrink down to be able to go to anatomy park and amusement park, Rick puts into Ruben a homeless man. This shrink ray is able to make anyone microscopic size. The people with a shrink ray would be able to recreate all of those old episodes of cartoons where they go inside their friend’s body like in the Magic School Bus or this episode of Rick and Morty.

4 Useless: A Watch The Turns People Into Snakes

In season 2 episode 5 ” Get Schwifty” a huge alien head looms in the sky telling earthlings to “Show me what you got.” When Rick and Morty eventually come up with a song called “Get Schwifty” to show the head. They save the Earth, but they are transported to a music competition where the competitors are other planets and their song isn’t good enough, they will be vaporized.

This “invention” is more of a cruel joke than a gadget. Rick says that the watch turns people into snakes, but really it’s just a vaporizer gun and he has a snake holder attached to his leg. He actually just kills the people.

It is dependable, safe, and has an amazing security system that allows Summers to be left in the car without having to worry.

2 Useless: Butter Robot

The number one most useless invention Rick has made is the butter robot. This little bot was seen in season 1 episode 9 “Something Ricked This Way Comes.” While the whole family is at the table eating breakfast, Rick makes this robot just to pass the butter. When the little bot is informed of its directives, it falls into an existential crisis. This robot and the inter-dimensional cable-box would prime reasons for the world falling into the plot of Wall-E. Maybe that is Rick’s number one goal in life: to make the world of Wall-E a reality…or maybe he really just wanted a butter-passing robot.

1 Useful: Portal Gun

The most useful invention Rick has ever made is, of course, the infamous portal gun. This gadget is used the most and has been seen in almost every episode after first appearing in the Pilot. Anyone can use the portal gun in order to travel to any dimension, universe or reality. This gun should be owned by everyone. Having the ability to go anywhere you want whenever you want would be amazing. Need to go to the store on the moon? Sure why not. Need to go see your buddy on mars? Go ahead its only one click away. Anyone who watches Rick and Morty has probably wished for one at some point or another.
