Rocket Arena is here, and Kayi is by far one of the most underrated players from launch, despite some really cool abilities! Kayi hails from the snowy mountains of Serrata Peaks, and has an interesting backstory involving her royal bloodline, and fleeing her kingdom during a coup. Rumor has it that she is back in the Arena to reclaim her kingdom, and given her abilities, it is quite possible she will come out victorious and with the resources needed to ascend the throne.

Kayi’s abilities include Charged Bolt, Snowglobe, and Grapple Hook. If you take nothing further from this guide, use the Snowglobe, and get your allies to stand in it as well! Kayi’s abilities are highlighted a bit more in the video above, on the Megadon Junction map. Standing within her Snowglobe protects her and allies by slowing incoming projectiles, and it also makes her Charged Bolt attacks faster and harder. Given these killer abilities, Kayi is well set up to be a knockout queen, and thus we suggest below a DPS build, a Dodge build due to her hunter-style gameplay potentially leaving her in harm’s way, and a Recharge build helping to keep her abilities active often.

High DPS Build

Kayi is an incredibly effective long-range hunter, with decent movement speed. Those seeking the role of offensive player for their trio should look no further than the artifact build below. While some may prefer the Reef Buoy to keep the Grapple Hook active, for the damage build we recommend the Blastbird. For the second artifact, we recommend the Powder Keg, as many of Kayi’s best attacks will be from within the Snow Globe, on the ground. Finally, Kayi needs the Crystal Crown, which will ensure the most rapid streaming of her Snow Globe ability.

First Artifact – Blastbird – Deal 3% more damage

Second Artifact – Powder Keg – Deal 8% more damage on the ground

Third Artifact – Crystal Crown – Using your special ability reduces your secondary cooldown 30%

Dodge Build

Kayi’s benefits from standing in her Snow Globe require her to do just that, stand in her Snow Globe. Therefore, some may consider a dodge build to keep the princess alive longer. First, the Hunter’s Idol reduces damage taken and impulse received. Second, we highly recommend the Coldsnap Locket as it increases her dodge radius. Finally, the Frosty Thermometer provides a nice dodge cooldown reduction.

First Artifact – Hunter’s Idol – Decreases damage and impulse received by 10%

Second Artifact – Coldsnap Locket – Dodge radius increased by 100%

Third Artifact – Frosty Thermometer – Dodge cooldown reduced by 2.5% while in megablast danger

Recharge Build

Love Kayi’s Snow Globe, but don’t like its pesky cooldown period? Artifacts can help with that. A recharge build provides some assistance, though astute players will need to remember to use items in the proper order. First, the Reef Buoy provides a cooldown reduction to the Grapple Hook when hit. Coupled with the Crystal Crown, which reduces the secondary cooldown when the special is used. Use the Grapple Hook first to recharge your Snow Globe! Finally, the Supercavitator reduces all cooldowns, a no brainer.

First Artifact – Reef Buoy – Taking damage reduces special ability cooldown up to 15%

Second Artifact – Supercavitator – Reduce all active ability cooldowns by 50%Third Artifact – Crystal Crown – Using your special ability reduces your secondary ability 30%

These builds will have Kayi on top of the scoreboard if you can keep your Charged Bolt on target.
