According to some new rumors it seems as though Square Enix is preparing to announce that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going to getting an official port to the PlayStation 5. Currently, players are able to play the PS4 version on the new console, but it has yet to be optimized for the PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake spent quite a few years in development after it was announced all the way back in 2015, and then released to major fanfare in early 2020. The game was released on the PlayStation 4 due to an exclusivity deal that is actually running out very soon. This has many wondering if Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be appearing on other consoles like the Xbox Series X once that deal has expired. This also means that we could potentially see the title appear on PC or any other future consoles that may release.

According to notable Final Fantasy leaker, Navtra, Square Enix will be announcing next month that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the PlayStation 5. They also state the company will be announcing Final Fantasy XIV’s next expansion, as well as Life is Strange 3. They then say that these plans could be slightly delayed due to the pandemic, but this news should be expected soon either way. None of this information has yet to be confirmed by an official source, but Navtra has proven trustworthy in the past like when they correctly predicted information regarding Final Fantasy 16.

A port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake would honestly make a lot of sense considering the sheer amount of Final Fantasy products that are being worked on right now. Square Enix has recently filed several trademarks that indicate that it is working on games related to Crisis Core as well as the character Sephiroth. Xbox Games Pass players are also being given access to the majority of the main Final Fantasy games by the end of this year. It very much seems as though gamers can’t get enough of this series right now, so Square Enix is meeting that demand however it can.

While Square Enix hasn’t given any official insight as to whether or not Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be coming to PlayStation 5, it honestly just makes sense. The game may look great on PlayStation 4, but it could benefit from a more powerful machine. Hopefully, fans of the series get their wish and Final Fantasy 7 Remake comes to a more technologically-advanced console soon.
