As more rumors swirl around Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Village, a new set of rumors claim that the game will have a heavy focus on exploration, so much so that it’ll be much larger than in previous Resident Evil games.

The latest rumors come from insider Dusk Golem who has recently been behind Resident Evil 4 Remake’s rumors, as well as a number of other Resident Evil Village rumors. According to Dusk Golem this time around, the upcoming horror game will have a robust amount of optional content to check out, including treasure collection like in Resident Evil 4. Furthermore, the whole village location will have a lot of areas to explore while combining some of those areas into linear sections and spaces that are more open.

The insider was also able to bring up a Dark Souls reference by using the series as an example of when it came to exploring areas with strong enemies. Based on what he said, the game will have certain areas that are open early on, but will be somewhat difficult to get through unless players have proper equipment with them. In the Dark Souls series, which follow a loose Metroidvania formula, players have the option to check out some areas that are meant for mid-game or late-game while still in early-game. As such, and if Dusk Golem’s information is to be trusted, something similar can be expected in Resident Evil Village.

Lastly, one interesting piece of information Dusk Golem mentioned is how Resident Evil Village will be pretty long. Although the game will be longer than Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3, it will not be as long as Resident Evil 4 or Resident Evil 6. For those who played any of the mentioned games, they can get a good idea of how long they were, and draw various assumptions or estimates in regards to Resident Evil Village.

Although Dusk Golem accurately predicted Resident Evil Village before it was officially announced, the recent information should still be treated as a rumor. In other words, Capcom has yet to verify or deny any of the rumors through an official announcement or some sort of a blog post that offers more information about the game.
