A new rumor regarding a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man compounds talk of Venom entering the fray and also mentions a potential release date.
As the PlayStation 4’s time in the sun begins to come to an end, there will be certain things gamers look back on that defined the console. One of those things will be PS4 exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man. Selling more than 13 million copies (and counting) it is the second-best-selling PS4 game ever.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about Spider-Man’s success was its lack of online and multiplayer features. Insomniac wanted to create an in-depth single-player story and for it to be enough, and that dedication worked. However, despite DLC being added, many of Spider-Man’s players have completed the game. That leads to the inevitable question being asked over and over again: where is the sequel and when can we have it?
Well, there is no official word on a sequel just yet, but there have been plenty of rumors. The latest of those rumors come from Redditor u/throwawayquarantine8. They claim to know that a Zoom call took place between people working on the game and spilled the beans on some of the things revealed and discussed. There was indeed a Zoom call between people from Insomniac when the Redditor claims, hence the credence being given to these rumors.
The rumors include some information that has been discussed before, and also some new details. There’s more talk of a symbiote suit being included in the game, implying that Venom will play some part in the sequel’s story. There’s also more talk of the Green Goblin playing a part, and Mysterio entering Spidey’s video game universe. The potential release date? Holiday 2021.
If that release date is true, then Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be a PlayStation 5 release. Since Sony has used Spider-Man game footage to show off the PS5’s loading speeds, that was probably assumed by most anyway. If the rumors are true or let’s be honest even if they’re not due to the fact the first game was so good, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is going to be pretty great.
