After four seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, it seemed like the natural progression to create a spin-off series that would bring back some of the fans’ favorite queens from past seasons. Except, it wasn’t until the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars that this show was able to really stand on its own as a platform for the contestants to redeem themselves on TV.

Four All Stars seasons later, the spin-off has now become as successful and important to the franchise as the original seasons themselves. Every season, a new batch of returning contestants are given one more chance to show off their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to the world. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been the case for every queen.

10 Coco Montrese

Despite the wide appeal of Alyssa Edwards as one of the most memorable contestants in the history of RuPaul’s Drag Race, it is important to remember that her then-nemesis Coco Montrese not only outlasted her on season 5, but also sent her home during an electrifying Lip Sync For Your Life. All in all, Coco placed fifth on her original Drag Race season, being very close to reaching the Top 4.

However, when it came time for All Stars 2, things did not pan out the same way. Instead, Coco Montrese was the first contestant to be eliminated, and then failed to return to the competition during the “Revenge of the Queens” episode. Instead, it was Alyssa Edwards who placed fifth on All Stars 2. Oh, how the tables have turned!

9 Milk

There’s no denying that Milk was one of the standouts of season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, despite being on a season with the likes of Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, Courtney Act, and BenDeLaCreme. Despite ending up in ninth place, Milk pushed the boundaries of what was accepted on the Drag Race runway, with looks that featured beards, pregnancy, and even male drag.

Due to her irrefutable creativity as a drag performer and very successful career as a male model after appearing on Drag Race, it seemed like a given when Milk was cast for All Stars 3. However, instead of the well-meaning and creative person that we had met on season 6, a different Milk entered the All Stars competition. The queen was often shady, rude, and was accused by her peers of often being delusional.

As it turned out, All Stars did not redeem Milk, but actually depicted her through a less favorable lens.

8 Pandora Boxx

On season 2, Pandora Boxx established the template for what we all now recognize as “the comedy queen” of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This character archetype has become so successful that queens such as Bianca Del Rio and Bob The Drag Queen were even able to take the crown on later seasons.

When the very first All Stars came along, there was no doubt that Pandora Boxx was among the contestants that fans were most excited to see on TV again. Except, the twist of that original season that the queens would compete in pairs, and Pandora was cast with the often-controversial Mimi Imfurst.

After placing fifth and being crowned Miss Congeniality of season 2, Pandora Boxx ended up being the first eliminated queen on All Stars alongside Mimi Imfurst. Talk about a ru-gret!

7 Farrah Moan

When season 9 started, Farrah Moan seemed to fit right into a familiar RuPaul’s Drag Race archetype of being a queen who is pretty and feminine, but bland and boring. Over time, however, Farrah showed a lot of heart, kindness, and good intent, winning the hearts of many fans that may have dismissed her at face value. What’s more, her gigantic social media following made her one of the more popular queens the franchise had ever seen.

Many people were excited to see what Farrah Moan would do when given a second chance on All Stars 4. Right off the bat, the queen seemed to still be her pretty emotional self, but also appeared to be very focused on doing well in the competition. Unfortunately, things did not go Farrah’s way on All Stars, causing her to land in the Bottom Two on the first episode and be eliminated the following week.

6 Ginger Minj

Ginger Minj may not have had any real chances of winning RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7, as being the series’ new comedy queen immediately after Bianca Del Rio winning season 6 was certainly a tough act to follow. With that said, Ginger was a fierce contestant who made it to the Top 3 and competed with the likes of Pearl and Violet Chachki.

Unfortunately, things did not go as well for Ginger Minj on All Stars 2. All in all, the queen’s only memorable storyline during that season was alluding to the fact that, if Katya had been eliminated on the week that they were both in the Bottom Two, Ginger would have sent herself home. As it were, Ginger Minj was the third eliminated queen on All Stars 2, which is a very different placement from her Top 3 status on season 7.

5 Morgan McMichaels

It was incredibly exciting to see that Morgan McMichaels was cast on All Stars 3, as she is such a veteran queen from season 2 of Drag Race. What’s more, Morgan ended up in eighth place on her original season and was part of what is arguably the franchise’s first-ever fight (versus Mystique Summers Madison).

Morgan McMichaels’ mission on All Stars 3 was to seemingly prove that a queen from season 2 could compete with the likes of Trixie Mattel, BenDeLaCreme, and Aja – all of which joined the franchise many years after Morgan. However, as it turned out, Morgan was the first eliminated queen of the season. Then, Morgan McMichaels came back during BenDeLaCreme’s shocking self-elimination, only to go home on the very next episode.

4 Nina Flowers

One of the most veteran RuPaul’s Drag Race queens, Nina Flowers not only made it as the runner-up of season 1, but she was also chosen as the Miss Congeniality of that season. In many ways, Nina Flowers was one of the fiercest competitors the show has ever seen, despite a slight language barrier.

Unfortunately, things went quite differently for Nina Flowers on the first season of All Stars, where she was paired up with Tammie Brown. Nina and Tammie (Team Brown Flowers) was the second pair of queens to go home, which was quite a different placement for the runner-up of season 1, to say the least.

3 Thorgy Thor

RuPaul’s Drag Race 10 Queens Who Did Worse On All Stars Than On Their Original Seasons

Throughout season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Thorgy Thor complained and complained about the fact that Bob The Drag Queen was taking up all of the space in the competition. It became a constant narrative that Thorgy fully believed that Bob was her biggest obstacle for shining as her full self during that season. Despite the complaints, Thorgy made it to the Top 6 of season 8, being a very memorable contestant who won over many fans.

So, when All Stars 3 came around, things looked better for Thorgy Thor. After all, no Bob, right? Except, it seemed like Thorgy was still getting in her head throughout the season, pointing out different reasons why this or that was deterring her performance. Consequently, Thorgy Thor was sent home on the second episode, failing to go farther than she had on her original season.

2 Adore Delano

RuPaul’s Drag Race 10 Queens Who Did Worse On All Stars Than On Their Original Seasons

Adore Delano was the first RuPaul’s Drag Race queen to reach significant mainstream success with her music career after the show. And within the franchise, Adore has always been the ultimate fan-favorite – a queen so fierce that she could even compete with the likes of Bianca Del Rio and Courtney Act, who are arguably two of the best queens the franchise has ever had.

Despite all that glory and fame, Adore Delano decided to eliminate herself from All Stars 2, becoming the first-ever contestant in the history of the franchise to do so. What’s more, the decision came from getting harsh critiques after doing badly on the very first episode, which means that Adore wasn’t on the right track to begin with.

1 Jasmine Masters

There’s no denying that Jasmine Masters is an internet superstar who has given us dozens of memorable memes, gifs, and videos – all of which make their way around mainstream media, not just LGBTQ communities.

On the other hand, it doesn’t feel like Jasmine Masters found a way to channel her humor and talent on RuPaul’s Drag Race, being eliminated quite early on both season 7 and All Stars 4. On season 7, after being the third eliminated queen, Jasmine won the hearts of many fans who wished to have seen more of her on the show. In many ways, this solidified this queen’s online presence, as fans were disappointed that she had gone home so soon.

The same cannot be said for Jasmine Masters on All Stars 4, who did not add anything to the season’s narrative and certainly didn’t win any new fans for being on the show a second time. All in all, it’s probably best for us to just remember season 7 and meme queen Jasmine Masters.
