10 Plastique Tiara

9 Alexis Mateo

Alexis Mateo is the winner of several pageants including National Showgirl, Miss Gay Days, and Miss Gay Florida International to just name a few. It’s clear that the same charm, personality, and polish that nabbed her multiple pageant titles is what endeared her to the RuPaul’s Drag Race audience.

Alexis was commonly praised for her adherence to neat and well-thought-out looks. To top off their skillful presentation, Alexis always flashed a bright million-dollar pageant smile as she cascaded down the main stage. The combination of visual artistry and charming personality helped Alexis appear on the show as a contestant three times, a feat reserved for only the most polished and beloved queens.

8 Kylie Sonique Love

Given this queen’s glitz and glamour, their pageant past should come as no surprise. But this All Stars 6 winner, a significant champion in the show’s herstory, is a step above just being a basic pageant queen. They are always polished and show a careful attention to detail. For example, their entrance look on season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars was a stunning red leather and latex outfit that revealed her growth from her last time on the show over a decade ago.

From the makeup to the wardrobe to the shoes, Sonique makes sure a look is on point before she steps onto that runway. Most notably during their uber-successful run on All-Stars 6, Sonique delivered high-quality looks consistently. It was this talent, combined with her surprising skills as a comedienne, that helped her snatch the crown and become the second trans winner in the Drag Race franchise.

7 Asia O’ Hara

Asia O’ Hara has won a ton of pageants in their illustrious drag career including the all-important Miss Gay America title. Asia had all the makings of an exquisite pageant queen but could also let loose and be silly. With a dedication to their presentation, Asia always paid attentive care to the outward components. But Asia also radiated a warmth that permeated her appearances, something no doubt gained from their many years in the pageant circuit. It was this charisma and presentation skills that helped Asia make it to the final of season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

6 Roxxxy Andrews

Roxxxy Andrews was always praised for their polish, poise, and style. Roxxy would without fail be in the top 3 or the winner of look/design challenges. With a love to show their body, it is of note that Roxxy has won the Swimwear and Talent categories of a pageant in addition to several other pageants like Miss Continental Plus.

In season 5, Roxxy was grouped with other pageant queens that were pitted against comedy and the more performative queens. No matter a viewer’s opinion on the pageant versus comedy queens debacle of season five, Roxxy’s polish can not be denied. Her pageant skills were best utilized in the first episode of season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, where she performed a racy burlesque striptease and won the challenge over fellow “look” queen Tatianna.

5 Eureka O’ Hara

Eureka has a big personality and even bigger polish. It is unequivocal that Eureka always works with precision and a clear artistic vision anytime she goes on the main stage. Whether a look is influenced by a concept or just traditional old glamour, Eureka made sure that all variables of a look contributed to the overall power and impact of an outfit.

Eureka holds several pageant titles that criss-cross all over the American south and southeast. Often speaking of the inspiration that old school drag plays on their drag aesthetic, the exceptional polish that Eurkea exhibits time and again makes a lot of sense. The self-described “Elephant Queen” applies her pageant skills not only on RuPaul’s Drag Race but also the HBO Max series We’re Here, which Eureka co-hosts and helps make over small-town citizens into drag queens and kings for a day.

4 A’keria C. Davenport

A’keria earned her label as the “Diahann Carroll of Ru’s Dynasty” thanks to their consummate showmanship and polish. Coming across as confident, A’keria used their pageant background to hone in on those special qualities that helped them clinch a spot in the top four. A’keria always served a high standard of drag that impressed the judges and audiences throughout their run on season 11 and in the most dramatic moments in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 6. The outfits A’keria modeled with the utmost charisma were always tailored and fit them to a T with flawless hair and makeup to match.

3 Brooke Lynn Hytes

Brooke Lynn Hytes’s looks were never their weak spot in the competition, usually winning acclaim for their first-rate ensembles. A successful pageant queen before their debut in RuPaul’s Drag Race, Brooke Lynn exuded class and sophistication in their appearances. The outfits presented to the judges were consistently streamlined and sleek.

Brooke Lynn represented an edgier, more high fashion type of pageant queen as compared to the more traditional pageant queens. Their fashion style was so incredible that Brooke Lynn could easily be a RuPaul’s Drag Race queen who could win Project Runway. A well-rounded individual, Brooke Lynn’s pageant experience aided this queen in their elegant and slick demeanor, which is currently on display as the main host of Canada’s Drag Race.

2 Trinity K. Bonet

Every time pageant queen Trinity K. Bonet sashayed down the main stage, they always looked glamourous and polished. When Trinity had to recreate a failed look for an All-Stars 6 runway, there were little to no choices to choose from as Bonet always had an impeccable look. Bonet holds multiple pageant titles including the impressive Miss Models Inc. title. As Bonet always held themselves with class and grace, their pageant background has helped them achieve ultimate polish and glamour.

1 Jaida Essence Hall

Jaida Essence Hall was the glamazon season 12 winner against a slew of other polished queens like Gigi Goode. Their pageant expertise helped in Jaida’s refined and savvy stage presence that eventually got them the crown. Jaida is a pageant queen who showed they were able to be comedic and stretch beyond the pretty pageant queen label.

Being funny and showing major personality can be a major struggle for pageant queens in RuPaul’s Drag Race. However, Jaida did not fall into this stumbling block and completely showed their hilarious comedic skills while presenting their charming personality. In the “Choices 2020” challenge, Jaida frequently impressed noted comedians Rachel Bloom and Jeff Goldblum and even coined a lasting catchphrase that always gets a laugh: “Look over there!”
