It has long been established in Marvel Comics that Wolverine and Sabretooth are arch rivals, fighting each other on sight in a most brutal fashion, but that may not actually be the case as Sabretooth has shown that his real arch enemies are two Netflix Marvel heroes: Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Throughout Sabretooth’s villainous career, he has mostly been shown fighting against the X-Men, primarily Wolverine, whenever the mutant heroes come across the brutal bad guy. When the comics take a dive into Sabretooth’s solo stories outside of the X-Men, however, two heroes are usually center stage in thwarting his dastardly plots.

In the series Sabretooth Classic by Mary Jo Duffy and Kerry Gammil, Sabretooth aka Victor Creed is working with a villain named the Constrictor to steal a priceless artifact to assuredly sell to the highest bidder. Before they can get away with the prize, the two villains are stopped by Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The first issue encounter isn’t the first or last between Sabretooth and the Heroes for Hire, as many of Sabretooth’s criminal undertakings are put to a halt by the Netflix Marvel heroes.

Later in the Sabretooth Classic series, Sabretooth is fighting Spider-Man and only recognizes the web-head because he is friends with his enemies, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Spider-Man had gone on many missions with the X-Men prior to his encounter with Sabretooth, which included working with Wolverine. One would assume Sabretooth would link Spider-Man with his supposed arch enemy Wolverine, but instead he associates him with his true all-time rivals Iron Fist and Luke Cage, making it clear to fans which heroes are at the forefront of Sabretooth’s mind when thinking back on past enemies, and more notably who is not.

While Luke Cage and Iron Fist are the first heroes that come to Sabretooth’s mind when considering his enemies, it makes sense that Wolverine’s name wouldn’t pop up, not because he is a lesser enemy than Luke Cage and Iron Fist, but because he isn’t one at all. In X-Men Origins: Sabretooth, Sabretooth’s life is chronicled from the time he first got his powers all the way to the present day with many of his encounters with Wolverine included in the issue. Throughout the first real look from Sabretooth’s point of view, the villain makes it clear that he doesn’t consider Wolverine to be an enemy. A nuisance at times, sure, but Sabretooth expresses that he never has more fun than when he and Wolverine are fighting, which leads to Sabretooth provoking Wolverine in increasingly sinister ways to spark an enjoyable conflict.

While Sabretooth enjoys his time with Wolverine, he absolutely hates Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Most times Sabretooth encounters Wolverine, he is looking for a fight but every encounter he has with the two Netflix Marvel heroes, he is in the middle of a job and they usually cost him a lot of money by interfering. If Luke Cage and Iron Fist were out of Sabretooth’s way, he would be a much happier and more successful criminal whereas if Wolverine was out of his life for good, he would assuredly miss him. Sabretooth’s arch enemy is not Wolverine as he enjoys their twisted, one sided relationship, instead his true arch enemies are the two Netflix Marvel heroes Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
