Leaks have revealed that Silent Hill 2’s James Sunderland will soon be a legendary skin for survivor Cheryl Mason (Silent Hill 3’s Heather Mason) in Dead by Daylight. Cheryl Mason and Pyramid Head joined Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror title in June 2020, and astute Silent Hill fans wondered if James Sunderland might make an appearance. If this leak is revealed to be true, fans may not have to wait long.
Behaviour Interactive has been updating Dead by Daylight regularly. The developer has recently teased Mikaela Reid, a new witch survivor scheduled to release in October. Meanwhile, the Cenobite Pinhead from the Hellraiser franchise has been terrorizing players as the game’s most recent killer. Each new character will eventually come with different skins and completely different character models as a legendary set. For example, Cheryl Mason’s legendary skins are of classic Silent Hill characters, Cybil Bennett and Lisa Garland. James Sunderland would soon be joining their ranks.
DBDLeaks shared a character portrait of James Sunderland on Twitter, leaking that the main character of Silent Hill 2 will be a legendary cosmetic for Cheryl Mason in Dead by Daylight. This is also the first time a character of the opposite sex appears as a survivor’s legendary skin. Ever since the HD Collection, James Sunderland looks to be fully realized in a high-quality character model, complete with an empty, dead stare, which may be perfect given the circumstances leading up to when he visited the foggy town. The popular and tragic protagonist will join his physical manifestation of guilt and torment, Pyramid Head along with other terrifying icons like Resident Evil’s Nemesis.

Since the initial report, DBDLeaks has also found audio files for James Sunderland, which have been uploaded onto YouTube. The video consists of more than eleven minutes of agonizing moans and screams that are taken out of context from the game. The undisclosed voice actor seems to be channeling James’ original performer, Guy Cihi. The inclusion of voice files strengthens the legitimacy of this leak. Silent Hill and Dead by Daylight fans alike can now imagine James Sunderland being terrorized by Pyramid Head and his now bolstered derrière.
Although he is relegated to a legendary skin for Cheryl, it is still great to see James being included in Dead by Daylight, a game that brings together a wide variety of horror icons from Michael Myers to Freddy Krueger. While some fans wanted to see Maria, the sultry doppelganger of James’ wife, James Sunderland is the better choice for a Silent Hill 2 survivor, given his connection to Pyramid Head. Hopefully, this legendary character will be announced by Behavior Interactive soon. For now, players can survive Dead by Daylight’s Hellraiser chapter.
