The latest monthly update to The Sims 4 has brought with it new features and quality of life updates that add diversity and functionality to the game. While the biggest addition is the much-desired bunk bed, as well as the unexpected loft bed, the patch also brings new diverse artwork, hairstyle updates, and some changes to Sim’s behavior. Here’s a breakdown of everything you can expect.

More Diverse Artwork

In their ongoing mission to bring more diversity to the game, new swatches have been added to base game posters and artwork. The posters have had new skin tones and hair colors added to swatches, allowing more Sims to have posters that reflect themselves.

The artwork changes also add new skin tone swatches but there are other changes as well. The mysterious “Jerry” is now joined by several other Sims, making these images look like a more variable selection of ancestors. The artwork in a box has some new images and the portrait of a marriage artwork now includes swatches of racially diverse gay marriages.

Skin tones in the game itself have also been tweaked so console players should now see the same improvements as PC players.

Bunk Beds

Bunk beds have finally been added to the game and the form they take is slightly unexpected. There are two different designs of bunk beds, both based on existing beds. One is wooden, while the other is metal framed. Both beds have a variant that includes two beds and one which is a loft bed and nothing underneath.

If you want the bottom bed to be for toddlers you can manually place a toddler bed into the gap underneath the loft bed. As a default, these are the only configurations. However, you can use the move objects cheat to add a rotated bed, desk, or other items underneath your loft bed with varying results.

Trait And Behavior Changes

Many traits have also been adjusted to add visual clues and behaviors reflecting them. The traits affected are Bookworm, Clumsy, Genius, Gloomy, Glutton, Good, Goofball, Hates Children, Hot-Headed, Jealous, Mean, Neat, Noncommittal, Perfectionist, Slob, and Ambitious.

The changes are targeted to make traits more easily identifiable and unique. They include bookworms having more fun reading books than any other activity that generates fun and other similar changes.

The patch also includes some adjustments to everyday activities such as eating, drinking, and using the bathroom. These activities will now take less time out of your Sim’s day, meaning you no longer need to get up three hours before work to allow time to eat and pee before you leave.

You’ll also notice a few other adjustments including a reduction in the amount of time it takes dust to accumulate if you have the Bust the Dust kit.

The full patch notes are available on the EA website and the March update is now available to download. Just remember to backup your saves and disable your mods, just in case!
