The latest update for the Super Smash Bros. mod Smash Remix has added Wolf from the Star Fox franchise and Conker from Conker’s Bad Fur Day as playable characters. The original Super Smash Bros. game on the Nintendo 64 only had twelve fighters, but that number has exploded to over eighty in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

There is a huge modding scene for the Super Smash Bros. series, ranging from Project M turning Brawl into Melee, to adding Master Chief to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The series really picked up steam with Melee, which is why fans are still playing it at tournaments to this day. The original Super Smash Bros. doesn’t receive as much attention from fans, except for the incredible Smash Remix mod, which has been adding new content to the game.

The Smash Remix mod has added characters like Young Link, Lucas from Mother 3, and even the terrifying piano from Super Mario 64 as playable fighters. The Version 0.9.7 mod for Smash Remix is now available and the official YouTube channel for the game has uploaded a trailer, showing off its new content. Smash Remix has added a third Star Fox character to the game (as Falco was added in a previous update), with Wolf now playable. Wolf’s fighting style is based on that of his appearances in later Smash games.

The trailer ends with the reveal of Conker from Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Conker has a brand new moveset based on attacks from his own games, including a frying pan and chainsaw for his melee moves, and a grenade that can be influenced after it enters the field, similar to Duck Hunt Duo’s Trick Shot move in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Smash Remix has also added new modes and character options for players to use.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch and is currently the best-selling fighting game of all time. The series has reached an unbelievable level of success over the past few years, yet there are still fans out there who love the original game and continue to add content to it. It might have taken until Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for a Rare character to make it into the series (in the form of Banjo-Kazooie), but retro fans can now imagine if that had happened back in the Nintendo 64 era.
