Solid Snake’s ample behind has been drastically altered in the latest Super Smash Bros. game, and a certain someone isn’t happy about it.

Have a think about some of the most iconic video game characters of the past 30 years. Most of you are likely picturing the likes of Mario, his brother Luigi, Sonic, Link, Pac-Man, and maybe even the trainer you guided through early Pokemon games. Thanks to Nintendo, from the late 1990s until now we have been able to battle those icons against one another in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Ever since the Nintendo 64, there has been a Super Smash Bros. game on every Nintendo console. That’s why Nintendo Switch owners have been eagerly awaiting news about what the series had in store for the gaming giant’s latest console. News and footage broke at E3 of course, and the next chapter, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, will arrive in December of this year.

Apparently, every single character that has ever appeared in Super Smash Bros. previously will be available for selection plus some new additions will be included. One character in particular though, Metal Gear Solid’s Snake, has had a weird and unprompted makeover. Twitter account Gaming News And Humor posted a comparison photo of Snake’s behind from Super Smash Bros. Brawl to how it will look in Ultimate, and it has inexplicably become extremely flat.

The tweet states that it doesn’t know why the butt flattening is important but there’s one man who is of the belief that the matter should be treated very seriously. That man is the voice behind the Snake character, David Hayter. The voice actor/screenwriter wrote “There’s a whole host of reasons why it’s important,” adding the hashtag #FreeSnakesButt. Clearly, Hayter is of the belief that the flattened bottom reflects poorly on him.

It’s an odd thing to do, and perhaps an even odder thing to notice, but as you can see the character’s behind has been altered significantly. The question now, of course, is can it be changed? With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s release now less than six months away, the game’s creators likely have more pressing issues to deal with. Perhaps they will make a patch available following the game’s release.

Josh has been gaming for as long as he can remember. That love began with a mild childhood addiction to the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive since he lives in the UK. Back then, Sonic 2 quickly became his favorite game and as you might have guessed from his picture, the franchise has remained close to his heart ever since. Nowadays, he splits his time between his PS4 and his Switch and spends far too much time playing Fortnite.
