The first Pokémon Presents was filled with announcements for new Pokémon games, but the ride isn’t over yet, as another Pokémon Presents is planned for next week that is promising to reveal a major title.
The expectations for the first Pokémon Presents event were low going in, due to the fact that it took place on the same day that the Isle of Armor expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield was released. Most fans assumed that the event would just promote the Isle of Armor and maybe The Crown Tundra DLC. The Pokémon Company had a lot more content than anyone realized, as it announced Pokémon Smile (a smartphone game to help kids brush their teeth), a puzzle game called Pokémon Cafe Mix, new content coming to Pokémon Go, and the long-awaited announcement for New Pokémon Snap.
The Pokémon Presents event ended with The Pokémon Company President/CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara promoting a second event on June 24 that will feature the reveal of a major new title. This has started a wave of speculation as to what the game could be.
A lot of fans believe that sequels to the Pokémon: Let’s Go! games set in the Johto region will be the next games revealed, based on the abundance of Gen II plushies that are present in the background of the Pokémon Presents video. There is also speculation that the remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl could be teased, as this is something that has been predicted for a while.
The Pokémon Company exceeded expectations with its Pokémon Presents event, mixing interesting new products with games that fans really want. If the company is holding another event so soon, then it must have something awesome that it wants to show the world. We won’t have to wait long to find out, as the next Pokémon Presents event is only a week away.
The next Pokémon Presents event will take place on June 24, 2020. The Isle of Armor expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield is available now.
