Sons Of Anarchy season 7 season 2 “Toil And Till” saw Jax launch a misguided war on the Lin Triad. Sons Of Anarchy was created by Kurt Sutter, who previously wrote for gritty show The Shield. The series is a take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet and revolves around the biker club SAMCRO, initially fronted by Clay (Ron Perlman). The show is told from the perspective of Jax (Charlie Hunnam), the son of one SAMCRO’s founders, whose mother Gemma (Katey Sagal) is remarried to Clay.
Sons Of Anarchy was a dark, bloody ride with memorable characters and intense performances. It ultimately ran for seven seasons on FX and in keeping with its Shakespearian influences, it always destined to end in tragedy. The show came to an end in 2014 but currently lives on in the form of spinoff Mayans MC. The show has been well-received so far, though Sutter parted ways with FX following season 2.
Sons Of Anarchy’s final season dealt with the aftermath of Jax’s wife Tara being brutally murdered. It was really Gemma who committed the deed following a vicious fight, which was also seen by SAMCRO member Juice. Gemma covers her tracks and instead frames a member of Henry Lin’s Triad for Tara’s death, who Jax tortures and kills. Sons Of Anarchy season 7 episode 2 “Toil And Till” finds Jax set on destroying Lin. To this end, he enlists aid from SAMCRO’s Indian Hills charter, telling their president Jury his plan to befriend Lin while taking apart his business, before killing the ones he loves and torturing him to death.
Given that Jax was once intent on turning the club away from drugs and guns, this bloody path strikes Jury as odd; Jax explains his vision is gone and his focus is on revenge. Sons Of Anarchy season 7 episode 2 later explodes into a vicious gunfight, where Jax and his crew massacre some of Lin’s men, with help from Jury. Needless to say, Lin isn’t happy but Jax plays dumb during a later confrontation between the two. Lin gives the club a strict time limit to find and recover his merchandise. To that end, Jax kills and frames two goons who helped out in the Triad hit, making it look like they stole Lin’s gear.
What Jax doesn’t know is one of those men was Jury’s son, who cradles his dead body and quickly realizes SAMCRO was behind his death; since he knows Jax plans, this doesn’t bode well. Elsewhere on Sons Of Anarchy season 7 episode 2 the guilt of Tara’s murder, its impact on her son and the club itself are all taking their toll on Gemma. This is especially true after she comforts grandson Abel about Tara’s death. Juice also returns since he just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Despite Gemma giving him money and insisting he get out of Charming, he can’t do it.
