Spider-Man: Miles Morales features a second tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, this one in the form of an in-game street named in his honor. Insomniac’s latest superhero sandbox adventure already includes a heartfelt tribute to Boseman during its end credits, as the game was released only a few months after his tragic passing back in August.

Boseman’s sudden death following a secret four-year-long battle with colon cancer triggered an outcropping of love and support from both fans and his MCU castmates. The 43-year-old Chicago native gained a great deal of fame for his spot-on portrayal of the stoic Wakandan King T’Challa in 2018’s Black Panther and several connected films in the last few years of his life, in addition to noteworthy roles as real-life Civil Rights icons like Jackie Robertson and Thurgood Marshal. In the months since he passed away, there have been many tributes to his memory and work, and Insomniac is among those paying their respects through its newest game.

Reddit user RollieDell shared a screenshot of a second tribute to Chadwick Boseman in Spider-Man: Miles Morales yesterday. The game’s version of Midtown’s 42nd Street has a sign labeled “Boseman Way” between 1st and 3rd Street. The number 42 itself is a reference to one of Boseman’s breakout roles in the 2013 movie 42, in which he plays Jackie Robertson as he struggles against adversity and deep-rooted racism to become the first Black Major League Baseball player.

Aside from Chadwick Boseman, Spider-Man: Miles Morales contains plenty of easter eggs that pay homage to important real-life figures and events that have influenced the game. Hidden within New York is a statue of Spidey co-creator and head Marvel mastermind Stan Lee and a mural dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement, and players have taken photos of Miles at these locations to honor the people the landmarks represent.

Chadwick Boseman was a true hero both on and off the silver screen, and his sudden passing at such a young age was a harsh blow to filmgoers and comic book fans alike in a year already rife with tragedy and loss. His groundbreaking and highly successful role as Black Panther helped pave the way for further representation in comic-based media like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and while nothing can ever replace seeing him don the claws of Wakanda’s mighty defender in the MCU, small tributes like Boseman Way certainly help in keeping his memory alive.
