New Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer features fresh footage of Electro’s redone powers. The Spider-Man bad guy with the electrical powers first made his big-screen debut in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Unfortunately the Electro presented in Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a radical departure from the comic book version of the character and proved to be a let-down to fans. Even with Jamie Foxx in the role, Electro proved to be one of the sillier and more maligned comic book villains in recent years. But because the power of the multi-verse can right almost any wrong, Electro is getting a chance at redemption in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Foxx is back in the role and the character has been redesigned to make him more in keeping with the comic books.

The newest TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home indeed gives Electro his little moment, affording fans one more tantalizing glimpse of the redone character before the movie finally arrives in theaters. See the clip in the space below from Spider-Man: No Way Home News:

As many fans have pointed out, there is a decided Tony Stark-style look to Electro in his new MCU incarnation. This could just be a way of making the character overall look more in line with the aesthetic of the MCU era of movies. Or there could be some significance to this that makes itself known during the course of Spider-Man: No Way Home. What is certain is that the new Electro is a lot better looking than the blue version of the character seen in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and that his powers are clearly more than formidable, raising the stakes on everything going down in No Way Home. Indeed, Electro is not alone as an antagonist in the film, as he’s joined by fellow Spider-Man bad guys Doc Ock, The Lizard, Sandman and Green Goblin.

Multi-verse mayhem is indeed the order of the day in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It remains to be seen which villain presents the most dangerous foe for Spider-Man in the film, but Electro’s powers always make him a force to be reckoned with. Of course, fans are still holding out hope that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will get some assistance from previous iterations of Spider-Man, including the Andrew Garfield version who took on Electro in Amazing Spider-Man 2. At this point, many fans will be disappointed if Garfield and/or Tobey Maguire don’t make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but even if they don’t, the movie clearly has a lot to offer when it comes to cracking open the Marvel multi-verse and unleashing as much madness as possible.
