The Book Of Boba Fett was certainly a surprising announcement when it was first revealed but fans are eager to check out. While its release is still a little way off, there’s still plenty of other Star Wars material to explore before Disney+ takes audiences on the next stage of Fett’s galactic journey.

While each of the entries will be focused on Canon content (besides one) it’s important to note that it isn’t just the movies that have delivered great Boba Fett content. The comic books, video games, animated shows, live-action series, and novels have all added a little something to the character’s narrative, which will all hopefully come into play within The Book Of Boba Fett.

10 Honorable Mention: Bounty Hunter (2002)

Bounty Hunter is the exception to the Canon rule, but it’s hard to ignore this fantastic game. Developed by Lucasarts back when they created their own original titles, the experience allows players to take control of Boba Fett’s father, Jango Fett, and go on a number of bounty hunting missions.

It has a number of brilliant gameplay mechanics that really allow fans to feel as if they are in control of this notorious criminal. What’s more, the campaign fills in some of the narrative gaps concerning Fett being recruited to become a part of the Cloning process; a crucial piece of Boba’s own story.

9 The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

It’s difficult to ignore the influential Empire Strikes Back, the second installment of the original trilogy, and the live-action debut of Boba Fett. Although the Holiday Special might have portrayed Fett as the exceptionally cool and badass bounty hunter, Empire Strikes Back gave fans a look at how dangerous he could really be for the core characters.

Indeed, Fett’s role in the capture and torture of Han Solo made him especially menacing, not to mention becoming a key part of the dramatic finale which saw Solo frozen in carbonite. The character’s design really shone here and while he had next to no dialogue, the presence of the armor alone is enough to remind fans what makes him so cool.

8 Return Of The Jedi (1983)

The sequel is just as important to the story of Boba Fett, with Return Of The Jedi not only making cinema history once more but seemingly marking the demise of the famous Mandolorian-inspired warrior. Indeed, Boba Fett was removed from the playing field early into the picture.

With Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber cutting its way through Fett’s jet pack, the bounty hunter was driven into the Sarlacc Pit seemingly to never return. Fans now know he survived this run-in with the sand beast, but at what cost? Return Of The Jedi sets up The Book Of Boba Fett perfectly!

7 The Mandalorian (2019-)

Season 2 of The Mandalorian managed to make the dreams of fans a reality and finally bring back Boba Fett after so many years of being absent from the modern releases in the franchise. The character never died in the Sarlacc Pitt and instead made a scarred comeback, indebted to Mando himself.

The series runs straight into The Book Of Boba Fett and sets up the position of the character going forward as well as some of the supporting players in his story like Fennec Shand. Fett has some truly great scenes in the show though that reestablish him as a force to be reckoned with.

6 The Clone Wars (2008-2020)

Disney and Lucasfilm’s animation department has really gone from strength to strength but it was the release of the second version of The Clone Wars that demonstrated what they could achieve in this CGI format. Boba Fett surprisingly factors into the show in a number of ways.

Fett appears as a young man after his father has been slain in front of him. While he’s not quite picking up bounties in the Slave I just yet, the character does team up with a group of misfits and criminals including Aurra Sing and Bossk, who act as mentors to the young killer. He also boasts an intriguing arc where he looks to get revenge on Mace Windu as the show really fleshes the backstory out further.

5 The Bad Batch (2021-)

So far, The Bad Batch is only one season in but has already proven to be a success story for Lucasfilm’s animation department once more. With season 2 on the way, fans will be quick to note that Fennec Shand holds a vital role in this show, before her spin-off appearance in The Book Of Boba Fett.

Not only is the series pivotal for her own characterization, but it also fills in the space about how the Empire rose up to begin with. It’s entirely plausible that a younger Boba Fett surfaces at some stage in the show, perhaps even to tie it into the Disney+ live-action series in the future.

4 War Of The Bounty Hunters (2021)

War Of The Bounty Hunters is a comic book event that takes place after the events of Empire Strikes Back. With Boba Fett losing the carbonite-frozen Han Solo, he must fight to get it back as a number of other players step into the game, hoping to make a big payday.

It’s a story that crosses over into all of the Star Wars comics on offer at Marvel (besides some of the titles in different eras, like The High Republic) but fans should really check out the main miniseries which puts a huge focus on the bounty hunter himself. It’s written by Charles Soule, with art from Luke Ross.

3 Age Of Rebellion: Boba Fett (2019)

Marvel Comics created a number of one-off titles based around the Age Of Rebellion era, each of which focused on a separate character. Naturally, Boba Fett was given his own iteration of the title and it gave audiences a better look at the character in his height.

The comic sees Fett go on the hunt for Zingo Gambit, a nefarious criminal who Boba will eventually try to claim a bounty on. The conflict is intense, but it perhaps serves as a preview for fans who are looking forward to the character’s escapades in the Disney+ show. It’s written by Greg Pak with work from Bria LaVorgna and art from Marc Laming.

2 The Aftermath Trilogy (2015-2017)

Chuck Wendig created the Aftermath trilogy of novels which explores the galaxy far far away after the fall of the Empire. It feels in a lot of the gaps and actually answered some of the questions concerning Boba Fett and the links with The Mandalorian itself.

The books contain a few chapters where Cobb Vanth finds the armor of Boba Fett and starts wielding it in battle. This narrative leads directly into the Disney+ show with the character appearing in live-action for the first time. The books act as a crucial piece of the puzzle concerning Fett’s armor!

1 Battlefront II (2017)

The game Battlefront 2 fleshes out the post-Empire galaxy a little more but doesn’t add a great deal of narrative work to Boba Fett as a character. However, Fett himself is a playable character and the Slave I is actually a ship that fans can fly through battle.

It’s therefore a great video game to check out from DICE if fans wish to be involved in a Boba Fett project without having to get too involved with a canon story. It’s a great experience to fully unleash the abilities of the bounty hunter in the midst of a spectacular battle.
