Characters are such a crucial aspect of the Star Wars franchise and for over forty years have become ingrained in fan’s hearts and lives. So many have such beautiful, tragic, and/or brilliant journeys, with Ahsoka Tano having a journey so full, so excellent that there are few whose start to finish stories compare to the fan-favorite.

Throughout her time in The Clone Wars series and the movie, and her time in Rebels and extended content, Ahsoka has managed to become one of the most popular characters in the franchise today, and in so many ways, she keeps getting better and better.

10 From The Movie To The TV Show

It is hard to believe how utterly brilliant The Clone Wars series turned out to be, considering the quality of The Clone Wars movie, which was, in large part, a worse story than that of the lowest filler the show had to offer.

On top of that low-quality story, when Ahsoka Tano got introduced to audiences, she was immediately rejected by way of her childish and annoying nature. By the time of the series, though, she is incredible, helmed by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka quickly became beloved.

9 Skill

When she was younger, Ahsoka was stubborn, naive, a little hotheaded, with an evident raw talent that had not entirely developed into true ability yet.

That ability came to fruition quickly. Ahsoka held her own against many an enemy, even defeating Maul during the Siege of Mandalore, eventually dealing with the likes of Inquisitors, and holding her own against Vader for a time. Her skill as a leader, lightsaber combatant, and Force wielder drastically improved.

8 Maturity

Going back to how Ahsoka is when we first meet her, it is clear that she is very similar to Anakin, with a lot of growing up to do and a lot to learn.

As The Clone Wars moves through its seasons, Ahsoka grows up more and more, and becomes more mature, to the point where she forms thoughts on the Galaxy and Jedi, with the development of her own ideals. By the time of Rebels, she knows who she is, what she represents, and her values, and has completely let go of the childish qualities she used to have.

7 Friendship With Anakin

Friendship is a vital part of Star Wars, and is evident throughout The Clone Wars, with the prominent theme of found family rearing its head throughout the show.

One of the most significant examples of this is between Ahsoka and Anakin, a relationship crucial to the growth of both characters, and the downfall of one. They are like a sister and brother, and the love and care they have for each other teaches them both so much.

6 Friendship With Rex

The other crucial friendship in Ahsoka’s on-screen life is with Captain Rex, with the two being the main characters of the show, ending the show together, with nobody else, kicking off time in a new Galaxy together.

The two help each other’s characters and stories so much, with their friendship throughout both animated shows helping each other in various ways, like pulling Rex into the rebellion or teaching Ahsoka the value of experience. They are a highlight whenever they are together.

5 Rebels

Ahsoka is not just a central character in The Clone Wars, but in season two, and later in season four of Rebels, Ahsoka is an essential player, and her time in the show adds hugely to her character.

Not only is she shown to be an even better fighter than before, but her maturity as mentioned earlier shines through, her intelligence and newfound wisdom are clear, and her lightsabers are incredible, so too is her solidified place as not a Jedi.

4 Saw Both Sides Of The Separatist/Republic Conflict

There are so many brilliant Clone Wars episodes and arcs that add to the lore of the Galaxy during the time of the Clone War, including the political differences between the Republic and the Separatists.

For so long, fans believed the Separatists to e the bad guy, but as seen in “Heroes On Both Sides,” there are good people, misled people as a part of the Separatists. Ahsoka learning this in this episode aids her journey of discovery and inner ideals as she realizes the war is not all that it seems.

3 Saw Those Outside The Order

Another crucial element to Ahsoka’s growth and her journey is one similar to her knowledge of the true nature of some Separatists, that being her realization that people do not all love the Jedi.

This comes up a few times, but perhaps the most notable example is in the Martez sisters, who let her know how low they think of the Jedi. She realizes that the Jedi have lost their way quite a bit, and at the same time appreciates they have gotten dealt a bad hand in this war. Her knowledge and understanding of these things is always a joy to watch.

2 Left The Jedi Order

Ahsoka’s decision to leave the Jedi Order is one of the most heartbreaking moments in Star Wars, coming at the end of one of the show’s best arcs.

While fans love Ahsoka as a Jedi, as the apprentice of Anakin, her leaving the Order not only ensures her eventual survival, but it leads to her going on a journey of self-discovery that only makes her a better person, and as close to what many fans consider a true Jedi as we ever see.

1 Helping Those Who Need Help

One of the main reasons Ahsoka is as close to a ‘true Jedi’ as fans ever see – too many people – is the fact that her good heart shines through more than most, always helping those who need help.

From little annoying Rota the Hutt to the Martez sisters to the Rebel Alliance itself, Ahsoka grows a strong sense of right and wrong and stands her ground for what she believes in, which, more often than not, is simply to be a good person.
