Star Wars fans had their prayers answered when Disney announced that Obi-Wan Kenobi would be returning in his own show, with iconic acting veteran Ewan McGregor reprising the role. This is welcome news for fans who were left soured by the dismal and controversial sequel trilogy. With Disney seemingly in the midst of a major creative course correction, this could signal a new direction that caters to long-time fans of the franchise.

Regardless, a self-contained Obi-Wan series has a lot of stories to tell, and that means having the right characters in the mix. Here are ten from the character’s past that definitely need to make a comeback in the new show in one form or another.

10 Commander Cody

This particular Clone trooper was a close ally and friend of Obi-Wan during the Clone Wars, but that all changed when Darth Sidious enacted Order 66. Cody’s indoctrination kicked in, and he fired upon his former friend shortly after the final decisive battle against General Grievous and his remaining troops.

Kenobi survived the ordeal and managed to escape off world. The events to come would force him into exile on Tatooine, but that gives plenty of room for Cody to make a new appearance. After all, actor Temuera Morrison is already back as Boba Fett in season 2 of The Mandalorian, so jumping sets should be easy.

9 Darth Maul

It might be a sketchy endeavor to bring man-of-few-words Darth Maul back into Kenobi’s circle, especially given the lore already established by the character in The Clone Wars and Rebels TV shows. Yet, it is possible the former Sith Lord could have a go at him somewhere other than Tatooine.

With details about the show largely still under wraps, it’s hard to tell where Star Wars: Obi-Wan is going. Suffice to say, some space travel is involved. A simple story involving a certain criminal syndicate could put Kenobi face to face with Maul all over again.

8 Boba Fett

If Commander Cody can show up in the new series, why can’t a fellow clone? Boba Fett is the original unaltered clone of his “father” Jango, and after witnessing his brutal decapitation at the hands of Jedi Master Mace Windu, he’d no doubt be interested in a little payback.

Obi-Wan dueled Jango Fett on Kamino and nearly lost his life in the process. Boba was there and part of the action as he utilized his spacecraft Slave I’s blaster turrets to give his father an unfair advantage. Plus, he’d squared off against Kenobi during the Clone Wars in a quest for vengeance, which means the two could (and should) cross paths again.

7 Bo-Katan Kryze

Obi-Wan and the highly influential Mandalorian Bo-Katan fought several times together during the Clone Wars, mostly on the planet Mandalore, which was going through a massive political upheaval. The arrival of Darth Maul on the scene only served to complicate matters even more, and what followed was devastating for the Mandalorians.

Following the end of the Clone Wars, the newly minted Galactic Empire tried in vain to control the planet, to no avail. After initiating the Great Purge, a genocidal campaign against the Mandalorians, Bo-Katan fled. This storyline could easily be explored in the show, especially now that actress Katie Sackhoff is playing the character.

6 Uncle Owen

The end of Revenge of the Sith shows Obi-Wan leaving the infant Luke Skywalker in the loving care of his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, but the next chapter A New Hope sheds a little more light onto the story, even if it is ambiguous in nature. Uncle Owen doesn’t seem to care much for Obi-Wan Kenobi in the slightest, even going so far as to reprimand Luke for even talking about him.

The reasons for this dislike could extend far beyond Owen’s distrust of the Jedi, and more towards Kenobi himself. Some sort of story arc should occur in which Owen and Kenobi become antagonistic towards one another. After all, they both live on the same planet at the time the series supposedly takes place.

5 Yoda

No secret here – Yoda needs to make a triumphant return. Surely Frank Oz is willing to take on voice duties one more time before putting the character to rest, and this is the perfect opportunity for a swan song, especially given Yoda’s dismal reintroduction in the critically panned Rise of Skywalker.

A trip to Dagobah isn’t out of the question, and it would serve as ground zero for some fascinating exposition about the true nature of the Force, and more specifically, the Prophecy of the Chosen One. How did they get it so wrong? How do they know what to do in Empire Strikes Back? These are questions that could see some answers.

4 Qui-Gon Jinn

Provided Liam Neeson is up for reprising his role (with a little facial de-aging technology), Qui-Gon Jinn could make a return. Obi-Wan’s connection to this exceptional Jedi Master goes far beyond just a simple friendship. He started Kenobi out on the path he currently walks, and their relationship as Master and Padawan has deep roots.

Yoda promised to teach Kenobi how to commune with Qui-Gon’s long-dead Force ghost, and this is the right platform to make that happen. Start out in season one with a confused and angry Kenobi struggling to come to grips with the devastating Jedi purge, and a galaxy thrown into darkness. Then, turn to Qui-Gon for the appropriate answers to bring him back into focus.

3 Bail Organa

It’s hard to imagine that Bail Organa would simply cut off all communication with Obi-Wan Kenobi after he went into exile. Yes, Organa would need to be quite careful in his dealings, but the Empire wasn’t nearly as totalitarian towards the Galactic Senate at that time, which meant he had breathing room to traverse the galaxy.

Organa would already be sowing the seeds of rebellion, especially in light of everything that happened on Coruscant. It’s safe to say that Kenobi would definitely partake in operations on his behalf. This would give a young Leia Organa a better understanding of Kenobi’s character, even if the two never officially meet.

2 Asajj Ventress

This former disciple of the Dark Side was trained by Count Dooku to be the perfect assassin, but after numerous betrayals and personal growth, she abandoned the ways of the Sith and softened her heart to the point where she was more of a Grey Jedi. Ventress empathized with characters like Ahsoka Tano, while simultaneously ridding herself of vengeful thoughts towards Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ventress was killed by Count Dooku during the Clone Wars series, but her connection to the Witches of Dathomir remains strong. Perhaps she could return in one form or another as a Force ghost, or something darker and more foreboding. Either way, she’s a character with a tale or two left to tell.

1 Ahsoka Tano

Star Wars fans are happy that Ahsoka is back, and getting her own show. A little backstory could help set up her character arc as things progress, and a guest appearance on the Obi-Wan series is a step in the right direction. It may require a younger actress to play, given the timeline, but she doesn’t need to be a recurring character.

It would make sense for Ahsoka to seek out Kenobi, especially in light of events that took place in the final season of The Clone Wars. She doubtlessly has a lot of questions and concerns that Kenobi could help settle on her behalf as she moves forward in her quest to locate Grand Admiral Thrawn.
