Star Wars: Old Republic will soon turn 10, and in honour of the milestone BioWare will be re-releasing the MMO’s classic cinematic trailers in 4K ultra HD, starting with ‘Deceived’.

The trailer initially launched in 2009 and showed a Sith invasion on the Jedi temple, an all out lightsaber skirmish between the Light and Dark sides, and some awesome fight choreography. The multiple red lightsabers swishing out from the crash landed cruiser still sends chills down our spines.

Initially launched in 2011, Old Republic has remained pretty popular and is still receiving new content. A new expansion called Legacy of the Sith will soon come to the MMO, bringing with it a new storyline, endgame missions, character and combat system upgrades, and much more. Players will be able to visit new areas of space, including the aquatic world of Manaan in their hunt for Darth Malgus. A sinister new scheme has been plotted by the Sith lord and this planet is the key.

Along with this, the expansion will increase the maximum level cap from 75 to 80. New collaborative missions will include a Flashpoint set in a mountaintop tomb on the remote planet of Elom, and players can also take on an Operation in a derelict deep space research station.

The expansion will revamp the combat system and introduce a new Combat Styles feature. This will allow players to combine specific class stories with ability sets from other tech or force-wielding classes. A new character creation system will also be introduced, along with updates to itemization and loadout experiences and a streamlined class design.

While Star Wars: Old Republic is only getting remakes for its trailers as of now, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic will receive a full makeover as announced at a PlayStation showcase a few months ago. Aspyr will be heading development of the title in collaboration with Lucasfilm, however no release date has been specified. EA also put out a rather strange statement, suggesting that it will not be directly involved in the development of the remake. Geoff Keighly directly tweeted to the company asking about its involvement, but the convoluted reply suggests that it isn’t.
