It’s like Stardew, but tastier. And more haunted.

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has finally unveiled his new project. We’ve been waiting almost two years for ConcernedApe to uncover even the slightest details about his next game other than it’ll be in the same Stardew extended universe. Today, we learn what Eric’s been up to. Other than turning Stardew into an esport, of course.

It’s called Haunted Chocolatier, and based on the two-minute gameplay trailer, you play as a chocolatier in a slightly haunted castle that’s been turned into a chocolate factory. There’s a mad scientist, a blacksmith, an evil corporate overlord, and of course, ghosts. And a big cauldron of chocolate.

Making your delicious confectionary involves heading out into the wilds which surround the chocolate factory to slay monsters like slimes and living plant creatures. Like many classic RPGs, slaying these monsters drops ingredients that can be used to make stuff–in this case, chocolate. You can also whack trees and bushes with a stick to make lesser ingredients pop out in classic RPG fashion.

Stardew fans will immediately see the similarities between the two games. The art style and music are basically identical to ConcernedApe’s first game. The vibe here definitely seems more fantastical (at least, more fantastical than Stardew was when it was first released), what with the monster-slaying and chocolate-making. There’s also likely to be a Stardew-style relationship system, given how the player character converses with various NPCs.

Selling chocolate is just as important as making chocolate, and it looks like players will have the opportunity to build and decorate their very own chocolate shop. Countertops, decorative plants, and friendly chocolate-selling ghosts will help you sell the fruits of your monster-slaying. All you have to do is find the best place to display your truffles.

All this is speculation, however. ConcernedApe hasn’t released many details on the game other than what we see in the trailer, so your guess is as good as mine.

There’s no release date on Haunted Chocolatier, with ConcernedApe revealing “there is a ton of content I still need to make” over on the game’s new website. “So, please understand that it will be a while before this game is done.”
