Have you been spending quarantine honing your racing skills in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch? Itching to test out your abilities and maybe win some prizes? Desperately want a new game on the Nintendo Switch eShop but don’t have the funds at the moment? Then don’t miss out on the “Mario Kart North American Open August 2020,” a three-day-long tournament hosted by Nintendo, where you can win some awesome prizes!
Announced by Nintendo last week, the Mario Kart North American Open August 2020 is an online karting tournament that runs from August 14-16, 2020. According to Nintendo’s official event description, players can win up to 2,500 My Nintendo Gold coins in the tournament. For those who might not know the real-life conversions of Nintendo Gold coins to real money, that’s up to $25 to spend in the Nintendo Switch eShop. And those who come in the first place won’t be the only ones eligible to win – the final racers who place in the top eight for each day can win this sweet prize!
To join the races each day, players will need to enter the following unique tournament codes, which are different for each date:
August 14, 2020: 2956-9870-8011
August 15, 2020: 3581-0995-1531
August 16, 2020: 2630-8380-0107
Beyond owning Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Nintendo Switch, players will also need a Nintendo Switch Online membership and high-speed Internet to support the online play. The tournament will run from 12 PM – 6 PM Pacific Time each day and is open to participants from the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament is only open to US and Canadian citizens aged thirteen and older and Mexican citizens aged eighteen and older. It is free to participate in the tournament.
The eight winners will be decided upon based on the total number of points each player accumulates over the course of up to twenty-four races in a single tournament day. Players who win will also need a Nintendo Account to redeem their prizes.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The Mario Kart North American Open August 2020 runs from August 14-16.
