Get caught up as the cast of Netflix’s hit sci-fi/horror series Stranger Things offers a thorough recap of seasons 1 and 2 ahead of the season 3 premiere. Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in July of 2016, and quickly became a pop culture sensation thanks to its blend of classic sci-fi storytelling and ’80s nostalgia. The series returned for a second go-around in 2017, and is now set to come back for a third season.
When last viewers left the denizens of Hawkins, Indiana, the latest threat from the horrifying alternate universe the Upside Down had been vanquished, and everyone was ready to get back to the normal business of growing up in the ’80s. Season 3 sees the kids of Hawkins getting set to enjoy the summer, which of course means a lot of hanging out at the mall, but naturally there is more horror on the way as a new beast is ready to be unleashed on the town’s very unlucky residents, along with another potential threat that comes from a much more earthly source.
With Stranger Things season 3 getting set to drop on July 4th, 2019, now is the prefect time to get caught up on everything that happened in the first two seasons. Newcomers to the series, or fans needing a relatively quick but thorough refresher, will want to check out Stranger Things cast members Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin as they run down all the key events (including the still lamented demise of Barb). Not only does the video hit on all the major story developments of seasons 1 and 2, it also offers a fascinating look at just how much the show’s kid cast members have grown up in the few short years since the show debuted. Of course, the process of growing up is a major theme throughout the series, and season 3 figures to expand upon that, as the kids are ready to move on to the next stage of adolescence and continue exploring the feelings they began experiencing at the end of season 2 (which should mean a little bit of teenage romance mixed in with the horror). The adult characters too have plenty going on in Hawkins, especially all the ladies who are thirsting after lifeguard Billy Hargrove.
It remains to be seen how things will change for everyone’s favorite characters in Stranger Things season 3, but no doubt there are some big developments in the offing, as Hawkins once again finds itself on the wrong end of supernatural happenings and needing to be rescued by plucky teenagers (with a little help from Chief Hopper). After season 2 took things in some arguably awkward directions, it will be interesting to see how the Duffer Brothers and company find the balance between keeping fans happy and advancing the story in the third season.
