Frontier Foundry, in association with Chasing Rats Games, has announced the immediate release of Struggling, a bizarre physics-based co-op platformer with a unique art style. The game sees two players take control of the arms of Troy, a genetically engineered lab experiment that continues to mutate during his outrageous adventure.
Struggling combines comedy and horror as it takes players on a journey through horrific labs, strange hyper-dreams, dangerous canyons, and more in this fiendishly difficult co-op title.
Players will be able to journey solo or in pairs as they navigate through a series of challenging and horrific environments, using momentum and inertia to aid their progress. The fleshy hero Troy will need to outrun rats, operate machinery he probably shouldn’t touch, vault over obstacles, and even take a joyride as he attempts to traverse the world around him – with your help, of course. For those who love to live dangerously, there are even suspicious levers to pull, because who can resist that temptation?
You’ll need to have a strong stomach and mind to survive the four unique worlds in this attention-grabbing game. The eye-catching visuals create a unique style that helps this title stand out from the crowd, so much so that it caught the eye of numerous attendees at various industry events back in 2019. Struggling was declared IGN’s Top 4 Co-op Game at Pax East and PC Gamer’s E3 Hidden Gem, amongst others.
As Troy’s journey unfolds you can unlock a range of game-changing powers that enable you to overcome the fiendishly difficult obstacles that await. These new skills include time manipulation and the terrifying ability to detach Troy’s arms and graft them onto the environment. Don’t worry though, we’ve been assured that they’ll grow back.
Struggling is the debut title of Frontier’s brand new games label, Frontier Foundry. The publisher aims to form partnerships with external developers, leveraging its proven publishing expertise to bring unique and memorable games to the market. This first such partnership is with Chasing Rats, an indie studio based in Montreal, Canada that creates unique and quirky titles with an emphasis on multiplayer experiences.
