The world of superheroes would be nothing without a fleet of badass vehicles. From the various iconics designs of the Batmobile, to Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark incorporating hot rod colors into his Iron Man suit, sports cars and comic book characters have always gone hand in hand.

Now even the villains are getting in on the action. A new video has hit the web showcasing the hard work and dedication that went into making The Joker’s (Jared Leto) ride in filmmaker David Ayer’s upcoming Suicide Squad movie a reality. You can watch said video report, above.

The Fox news report video (h/t Comicbook.com) reveals that the Joker’s Suicide Squad car was created from scratch by Florida resident Matt MacEntagart. He was contacted months ahead of production starting on the film, to design and build a car that would eventually be used by a Suicide Squad villain; that villain turned out to be no less than Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime himself.

MacEntegart’s profession sees him building “kit cars,” which are essentially highly modifiable kits that can be placed upon relatively cheap car frames. By doing this, he can craft cars that match the style and appearance of the most high end brands, but sell them at a much more reasonable price. Hence, he ended up being approached to work on the Suicide Squad movie.

Although Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters first and bring with it a brand new Batmobile, all eyes seem to be fixed upon The Joker’s more stylish mode of transportation. Jared Leto’s Joker already has an unique quality to him, and this flamboyant pink sports car with glowing neon lights seems to perfectly encapsulate this version of the character’s punk rock, alternative aesthetic.

Suicide Squad marks one of the only times in which The Joker himself has received a signature vehicle in a movie. Brief glimpses of the car have already caught audience attention in the Suicide Squad trailer that dropped this summer, and more in-depth glimpses were made available when set photos from the film’s production leaked. If well received by audiences, MacEntegart’s work could go on to set the standard by which villainous vehicles are conceived and executed in Hollywood.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016, followed by Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016; Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017; Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017; The Flash on March 23, 2018; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League Part Two on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern on June 19, 2020.
