Supernatural’s “I’m No Angel” sees Castiel on the run from vengeful angels while dealing with being human. Supernatural arrived in 2005 and follows hunky monster slayers Sam and Dean Winchester. They were raised from childhood to hunt and kill demonic and supernatural beings, and while the series was initially set to run for five seasons it proved so popular it would last for fifteen. While the series has had missteps and its share of mediocre story arcs over the years, it also had an impressive ability to reinvent or reenergize itself.

Supernatural also had the benefit of Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3D) and Jared Padalecki’s chemistry, with the two forming a believable bond as the Winchester brothers. The pair have traveled to Hell and back – quite literally – since their journey began, and along the way, the show introduced great new characters like the angel Castiel or villain Crowley. While Supernatural will come to an end with season 15, there’s always the chance it will return for a movie or a revival in the future.

Supernatural season 9 started dramatically, with the angel Metatron casting the angels from Heaven and stealing Castiel’s grace – causing him to become human – while Sam almost died after the Trails of God. To save him, Dean made a deal with an angel to let him possess Sam so he could heal him, while also remaining unaware of the possession. Supernatural season 9 episode 3 “I’m No Angel” finds the now human and homeless Castiel getting used to his new situation, including hunger and needing to go to the toilet.

He realizes the cast out angels – led by Bartholomew – are hunting him down too. Sam and Dean also find this out and seek to find him, with Supernatural “I’m No Angel” posing the question of who will track him down first. Castiel kills an angel possessed human as he seeks shelter in an abandoned bus for the night, and later runs into a nice woman named April. She gives him food and then takes him home for the night, leading to Cass losing his virginity. The next morning, April reveals she’s possessed and tortures Cass for information on Metatron’s plan.

Meanwhile, Dean and Sam kill a reaper sent after them by Bartholomew, and Dean asks the angel possessing Sam for help in finding Castiel. Supernatural’s “I’m No Angel’s” finale has them break in the door to April’s apartment, who fatally stabs Cass. After a fight, Dean kills April before the angel possessing Dean takes over and heals Cass of his fatal wound. While they bring Castiel back to the bunker, Sam’s angel tells Dean he can’t stay as he will only attract more angels to them, so Dean tells Cass he has to leave.
