After visiting the Antique Shop in Syberia: The World Before, Kate’s journey takes her to a mountain lodge. There, you’ll take part in a story told by the elderly Leni Renner. Dana’s first day on the job in 1937 has multiple objectives, including operating a Voralberg stove.
Even if this is your first Syberia game, by now you know that Voralberg contraptions are complex and intricate. If the stove (or any other of Dana’s tasks) is giving you trouble, this spoiler-free guide will get you through it.
How To Hear Leni’s Story
After her hike through the mountains, Kate comes to the Silberspiegel Refuge where she hopes to find out more about the painting. Walk past the waterwheel and up the stairs to the refuge porch. When Kate takes the painting out of her bag, select three features that match the mountains in the distance. You’re looking for the Sharp Peaks on the right, the Railing in the foreground, and the Heart-Shaped Rock Wall on the left.
After confirming that this is the place where the painting was done, Kate will have a conversation with the refuge’s proprietress Leni. Leni’s story takes the game back to 1937, where Dana has started her job serving drinks to the visitors.
How To Complete Dana’s Tasks At The Refuge
After Dana finishes speaking with Gustav, head out onto the porch to take orders. Try to speak with Leon and Frau Junta – Dana will see that they are busy with a photoshoot and decide to come back later, but the objective to take orders will be completed. You can also talk to young Leni to learn more about her and Dana. If you do, promise not to tell Junta that Leni swiped one of her lenses. If you keep your promise later you’ll earn the Loyal accolade.
Go back inside and step behind the bar. To Dana’s left are the taps for the drinks.

Use the taps to create the correct combinations. When the time comes to pour the Nebels, the keg runs out after the first pint. Open the drawer underneath the kegs and pull out a fresh Nebel to pour the second drink.
Step out from behind the bar and serve the drinks to the four men at the table on your right (Dana’s left). Chat with the scientists about their expedition, asking about the map and equipment on the table and about the team themselves.
How To Fix The Stove
After the conversation with the scientists, inspect the wood stove behind Höss, the Brown Shadow sitting alone at the other table. Read the central dial to discover that Dana needs to add some logs to the fire. Open the flue underneath the meters, then add a log from the lower-right area of the screen. A second log needs to be added, so back out of the stove interface for now.
On the far side of the wood stove from the bar, you’ll also find some paintings on a table. Read the note from Gustav next to them, then select one to hang in the refuge. Doing so completes the scene’s secondary objective and earns the Pictorial Dilemma accolade.
After selecting a painting, take another log from the bin at the back of the room by the stairs. Place the log in the stove, and Dana will notice that the air flow in the stove is incorrect. Dial 3 is low, so look at the valves to the right to make the necessary adjustments.
The vertical column of valves with the number 3 painted on the pipe is the source of the problem. The bottom valve is loose; pull it out, then look on the left side of the stove. Insert the valve into the empty socket on pipe 2 and tighten it to regulate the air intake.
Once all three tasks are complete, and you’ve selected a painting, return to Gustav. He will assess your job performance – the best result comes from not asking Gustav for help at the beginning of the scene and ignoring Höss’s comments during the conversation with the scientists.
In any event, Gustav asks Dana to play the piano. When Dana sits down, lift the lid and start playing. After the cutscene, Leon and Dana will step outside, and you’ll resume gameplay as Leni.
Try playing the piano as Leni to complete a secondary objective, then attempt to follow Dana outside. Gustav won’t let you eavesdrop on their conversation, so head upstairs to listen from the window. Afterward, you’ll be back to playing as Kate in 2005.
