Team Rockets Jessie James And Meowth Are Coming To Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu & Lets Go Eevee

The most famous duo of villains in the Pokémon franchise are making their way back to the video games this year, as Jessie, James, and Meowth will be returning to cause trouble in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee.

A new trailer for Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee showed a brief clip of Team Rocket facing the player character.

We have only been given a brief glimpse at Team Rocket’s arrival in the Let’s Go games, so we don’t know much about their role in the game. It’s pretty safe to say that they will be there to try and steal the main character’s Pokémon, which means that they will now need to think up a reason for why they want to pinch an Eevee.

Jessie, James, and Meowth had previously appeared in Pokémon Yellow, so it makes sense that they would return for the Let’s Go series, considering that they are meant to be loose remakes of those games. The player encountered them four times throughout Pokémon Yellow, which resulted in some of the easiest battles in the game.

The brief clip of Team Rocket shows them facing the main character in a cave. This is most likely meant to be Mt. Moon, which was where they were encountered for the first time in Pokémon Yellow.

The return of Jessie & James means that we will also likely see the return of their Ekans and Koffing, whose last appearance was in 2002. The fact that the Let’s Go games will only contain Pokémon from the Kanto region almost guarantees that Team Rocket will be using their old allies again.

The fact that Pokémon can follow you around in the Let’s Go series also seems to apply to Jessie and James, as Meowth is seen outside of his Poké Ball. In Pokémon Yellow, Meowth was treated as a regular Pokémon on Jessie & James’ team, rather than as a separate character, which means that his appearance in the Let’s Go games will be closer to that of the Pokémon anime.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee include a co-op battle mode, which means that you will be able to take on Jessie & James as a team, which wasn’t possible in Pokémon Yellow, as Double Battles weren’t a part of the series yet.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 16th.
