Fans are speculating that Teen Mom stars Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney are headed towards a divorce based on arguments in recent episodes of the show. Maci first started sharing her life with MTV viewers when she appeared on 16 & Pregnant. Her episode showcased her rocky relationship with her baby daddy Ryan Edwards. Their relationship followed over into the early seasons of Teen Mom, with the two even getting engaged at one point. After multiple attempts on Maci’s part to make the relationship work, they ended up calling it quits when their son, Bentley Edwards, was still a baby. After a few failed relationships, Maci met her boyfriend and now-husband, Taylor. The two were together for quite a while and had two kids together before they were married in 2016.
While filming Teen Mom season 9, Maci was caught in the middle of a deadly shooting at a local gas station. Maci witnessed the shooting and has been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from the experience ever since. In a recent episode of the show, Maci revealed she has not been able to drive past that gas station since the incident occurred. During that same episode, Bentley asked her to pick him up from school, meaning she would have to drive past the gas station. In an effort to make her son happy, she overcame her anxiety and drove past it, gaining praise from fans for being a good mother to Bentley.
Despite starting out as a fan-favorite couple, fans are now speculating that Maci and Taylor are headed towards a divorce soon. A Reddit thread, started after the most recent episode aired, is full of commenters who think the couple’s marriage is doomed. One commenter questioned whether or not anyone thinks Taylor and Maci’s marriage will last much longer because they personally don’t think it will happen. In response, another commenter said in most divorce cases, the woman is the one who initiates it and that to them Maci looks to be checked out. Others pointed out that Maci once said that she and Taylor often get drunk and argue with each other for hours on end. No one in the comments section thought that was a good sign at the time, and after watching recent episodes of the show they believe in Maci’s statements now, more than when she first made them.
Rumors of their potential breakup came after two back-to-back episodes featured tension in their relationship. First, Maci got angry with Taylor for arranging for a friend to pick their kids up from school when Maci was sick, in order to give her a break. Then in the middle of a date, Maci got up and said she was tired and wanted to sleep, after telling Taylor she liked him in response to him telling her he loved her. Fans on Reddit defended Maci, saying sometimes love isn’t enough and it is just as important to like the person you’re married to as well as love them. They also reminded the others that Maci is likely still recovering from her PTSD.
Fans were happy when Maci met Taylor after the emotional roller coaster that was her relationship with Ryan. It will be interesting to see if this is just a rough patch in their relationship or if it truly is the end of their marriage. The Teen Mom star is strong, but it will be difficult for fans to watch her go through another heartbreak if she does in fact choose to end her marriage to Taylor.
