Former Teen Mom star, Jenelle Evans has reunited with her abusive ex-husband, Davis Eason who has been charged with an alleged assault. Jenelle is reportedly getting back together with David, who was arrested on June 12th and released on an unsecured bond.
Eason was arrested after he had an altercation with Evans’s friends. The charges were allegedly “assault with a deadly weapon.” He has been released on bond and has a tentative July 6th court date. Eason and Evans have had quite a volatile relationship, separating and getting back together before. These circumstances are more serious, however, since he allegedly hit one of her friends with a handgun. Before, MTV had made the decision to fire Evans following allegations of lying to the cops about Eason killing a dog. They decided not to follow her saga, wherever it may go, to avoid uncontrollable scandals and bad publicity.
The DailyMail detailed the aftermath of the arrest and altercations. Evans was planning to “move on” from Eason after reassuring her fans that she and her kids were safe. She made the announcement public in a statement to Celebernation, that instead they are getting back together. Her fans are worried about this change of heart after she claimed to move on from him. It doesn’t help that Evans also reports that she is taking a social media break to deal with the changing circumstances and potential backlash. She did, however, thank everyone for the emotional support that poured in from her fans and others.
Domestic abuse is always a hairy topic in media; ideally, we want to show support for the survivors. In this case, however, Evans needs to figure out if she is perpetuating a self-destructive cycle and potentially endangering her kids. While the choice is ultimately hers, Eason is not just a threat to her if this latest assault charge is any indication. Nor is it the first; she called 911 on him in 2018, alleging that he broke her collarbone, showing that he has a history of abuse.
Make sure that you also are aware of the red flags of domestic violence, including a partner isolating their loved ones from others and having a history of hurting others. Eason currently has displayed a number of these red flags. We do hope that Evans and her kids remain safe and that this saga had a happier conclusion than how it started.
