No, it’s not a Pokémon; Platypet is a Temtem found in the waters of Temtem’s floating islands. However, don’t feel bad if you originally thought it was a Pokémon since lots of people did way back in 2018 when Platypet was first created by artist Leopoldo Spagna. The “fakemon” made the rounds online until everyone thought that it was surely the next big Pokémon to be featured in the next-gen game. Instead, Platypet has found a home in the Pokémon clone, Temtem.

As one of Temtem’s signature monsters, Platypet is going to be in high demand among tamers. Here’s how you can get one and evolve it into Platimous.

Where To Find Platypet

You can find Platypet on the island of Tucma in several locations. The best spot is in the Mines of Mictlan where they commonly spawn around level 33 or so, but you can find them slightly earlier in the Corrupted Badlands and at the Xolot Reservoir. They’ll be harder to find, but still catchable at a spawn rate of between 30% and 70%.

Platypet’s evolutions, Platimous and Platox, are not found anywhere in the wild and must be evolved from Platypet.

How To Evolve Platypet To Platimous

Platypet evolves into Platox after it levels up 20 times, and then from Platox to Platimous after it levels up another 20 times. This means you won’t get a Platimous until very late in the game if you just capture one in the wild.

What Can Platypet/Platimous Do In Battle?

Because of its Water/Toxic-typing, Platypet’s evolutionary line has a lot of advantages and few disadvantages. Platypet is strong against Fire, Earth, and Digital Temtem, as well as other Water-types due to its Toxic-typing. Platypet is weak against Electric and Wind Temtem, but not Nature Temtem, again due to its Toxic-typing.

Platypet has great Speed and Special Attack, making it an ideal attacker in battle. Platimous can eventually receive the Determined trait, which makes it immune to all negative status effects. This is the preferred trait over Zen, and requires Platypet to know Amphibian when tamed/hatched.

When paired with a good support Temtem, Platimous can make quick work of the opposition.
