Just as every Pokémon game needs a bird, they also need a butterfly. The original Pokémon Red & Blue had Butterfree, which was a good early-game choice that was soon outpaced by more robust Flying-types.
In Temtem, Loali fulfills the role of the butterfly monster, but unlike Butterfree, Loali actually has decent stats! Unfortunately, it’s let down by a limited technique pool that doesn’t really come together until later in the game.
Where To Find Swali And Loali
Swali are found very early on in your Temtem journey. You can find Swali all along the Prasine Coast on the island of Deniz, as well as the Thalassian Cliffs. You’ll be hard-pressed to avoid running into a Swali through these areas, so don’t worry about finding one – they’ll find you.
Loali are somewhat rarer. You can only find them on the Island of Omninesia, where they spawn far more infrequently than Swali. Loali can be found between levels 16 and 22 at The Canopath, The Flyway, The Hangroad, and The Glassyway.
How To Evolve Swali To Loali
Swali will evolve into Loali after it levels up 12 times after you capture it. This means you can get a Loali at a fairly low level if you capture a Swali around level 2 or 3, making it likely to be the highest-stat Temtem for young Temtem tamers.
What Swali And Loali Can Do In Battle
As a Nature-type, Swali is strong against Water and Earth-type Temtem, but weak against Fire and Toxic types. It also takes half-damage from Electric and other Nature-type Temtem.
Loali gains the Wind-typing, which really helps to remove its vulnerabilities. Loali is strong against Water, Earth, and Toxic Temtem, but is weak against Fire Temtem. Loali also takes half-damage from other Wind and Nature-types, but now takes full-damage from Electric-types and just one-quarter damage from Earth techniques.
Swali’s only real attack, Urushiol, comes at level 5, but after that, it can only learn status techniques until it evolves into Loali and learns Blizzard at level 25. Since Urushio is an off-type technique, Swali really needs to be paired with another Toxic-type Temtem to receive its full benefits.
After evolving to Laoli, things get better when it learns Blizzard. This will likely be Loali’s main attack from level 25 onwards.
Curiously, Loali receives the Botanist trait which empowers Nature-type techniques by 15%, but it doesn’t learn any Nature techniques until level 44 with Allergic Spread. This will make Loali seem more like a Wind-type than a Nature-type until much later on in your journey.
