A terrifying action figure turns Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker into a baby doll. Released in 2019, Joker followed Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, providing a possible origin story for the titular DC supervillain. Now, Phoenix’s performance as the Joker is being commemorated by a new piece of obscure merchandise, a certifiably terrifying action figure that turns the actor’s version of the character into a baby doll. The doll is officially known as “Baby Series JK Baby Joker Clown Figure Doll Gift Model Toys” and is currently available on auction sites such as eBay. Based on the pictures above, one has to wonder why this creepy doll even exists. It is certainly not suitable for children, especially considering it comes with accessories like a handgun and a cigarette. Just like the film which inspired it, this toy is likely to cause some controversy based on its sheer existence. Many were critical of how Joker portrayed Fleck as a sympathetic figure who was ostracized by society, which some thought sent a dangerous message that his violence was justified.
This might not be the last time Phoenix is seen as the Joker, as it was reported this spring that Phillips is developing a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster, which will likely see him return as director. The sequel’s chances likely hinge on whether or not Phoenix returns, which is still uncertain at this time. If the Joker sequel doesn’t happen, audiences will still be treated to Matt Reeves’ dark vision of Gotham City led by Robert Pattinson’s Batman next March.
