Ever since Nick Fury appeared in the post-credits scene of Iron Man back in 2008, fans knew they were in for a real treat in the years to come. Since then Nick Fury has appeared in eleven Marvel movies including the Avengers, Captain America, and Spider-Man franchises, and Fury has had some classic one-liners and epic moments.

From Fury’s love for cats to his unwillingness to back down in the face of Gods, Sam Jackon was an incredible choice to play Nick Fury and hopefully, he will be in numerous more Marvel projects to come.

10 Exit The Donut

In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark is declining both physically and somewhat mentally after having accepted his mortality from being poisoned by the Palladium in his chest. After letting Rhodey fly away with his original silver armor Tony winds up on top of Randy’s Donut’s eating a box of six.

Fury appears for the first time and states ‘Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to exit the donut…”, a line that very few others than Sam Jackson playing the illustrious head of S.H.I.E.L.D could pull off. This is certainly not Fury’s funniest MCU line, but it just makes the top 10 as it was fans’ first experience of a sarcastic Nick Fury.

9 Fury Gets Dusted

Anyone that has watched Jackson throughout the years knows the one signature catchphrase that he is known for uttering from time to time throughout his resume of amazing characters. Not only was Fury getting dusted emotional for a lot of Marvel fans as they saw their heroes disintegrate, but it was also a clever way to bring Jackson’s catchphrase into the MCU.

Just as Fury fades away from the Snap he starts to utter “Motherf…” and his face turns to dust just before he can finish, in keeping with Marvel’s PG13 rating. This moment definitely cracks the top 10 but it was a very quick reference for fans to fully appreciate, and only worked for those who understood the reference.

8 Fury And The Flerken

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

One of the standout characters in Captain Marvel was Goose the cat as it is revealed to fans that he is much more than he appears. Fans discover that Goose is actually a Flerken, a dangerous creature that can launch tentacles from its mouth to devour and attack its opponents.

Fury had many moments with Goose in the movie, namely any time Fury put on the cute animal voice that no one had ever heard from the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D before. It got a few laughs but Fury has certainly done better.

7 “See Now That’s Some Bul***it”

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

In Spider-Man: Far From Home the illusionist Quentin Beck, also known as Mysterio had everyone fooled that he was the hero that was going to take Tony’s place as earth’s best defender, everyone including Nick Fury… almost.

When the Elementals attack London, Mysterio (who is controlling the ‘Elementals’ that are actually just holograms) tries to convince Fury that they are harnessing power from the earth’s core. Immediately after, Fury realizes that Beck is a fraud, turns to Maria Hill, and claims “see now that’s some bulls**t”, proving that the great Mysterio can fool everybody but him. Easily the best of Fury’s lines from Far From Home, but not his most epic throughout the MCU.

6 Talking To Loki

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

In Avengers: Assembled once Loki manages to successfully get captured and taken aboard the heli-carrier, Fury pays him a visit. The beauty of this scene is that even though Loki is literally a God, Fury never backs down.

Fury admits that Loki has made him desperate but reminds him that it may not have been a good idea. And to finish it all off, after Loki makes his speech about him demonstrating real power, Fury finishes with “Well let me know if real power wants a magazine or something.” While this isn’t his funniest or most epic, it was certainly great to see that he can have the final word no matter who he’s up against.

5 Return Of The Helicarrier

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

In Avengers: Age of Ultron just as all hope is lost and the Avengers are about to sacrifice themselves to save the people of Sokovia, the Helicarrier theme from the first Avengers movie gets louder and Fury appears in the original heli-carrier with some old friends.

The launch technician from Captain America: The Winter Soldier also reappears with Fury to help launch the safety pods from the heli-carrier.

4 Keeping Both Eyes Open

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

Up until Captain America: The Winter Soldier, MCU fans had only imagined what Fury’s left eye looked like under the eyepatch. Just as Alexander Pierce is under arrest from the other S.H.I.E.L.D executives Black Widow introduces Nick Fury alive and well.

In order to override the security protocols, Nick Fury reveals that he added his injured left eye to the S.H.I.E.L.D retinal database allowing him to reveal all of Hydra’s secrets to the public. Captain Marvel revealed how Nick Fury’s eye came to be but the end result wasn’t the only one considered. Although this was an epic moment from The Winter Soldier, Fury has had more epic moments in other movies.

3 “There Was An Idea”

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

The speech that appeared in the first Avengers movie and then kicked off the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War was the legendary monologue from Nick Fury telling audiences that “there was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could.”

The speech successfully sums up the need for the team of heroes while having an underlying tone of desperate hope for a response team for the enemies that humans can’t face alone.

2 Iron Man End Credits Scene

The 10 Best Nick Fury Scenes In The MCU Ranked

It wasn’t until the end credit’s scene of the first Iron Man movie that fans discovered they had bought a ticket for more than just a single comic book movie. It was the beginning of a new era of comic book movies that would become a huge part of the fan’s lives.

Getting Samuel L Jackson to play the role of Nick Fury only added to the excitement for what was about to come to fruition over the next 11 years (and over 30 post-credit scenes). The realization of what was about to occur all stemmed from this moment giving this scene a worthy second place.

1 A Stupid Ass Decision

Another of Nick Fury’s famous lines from the first Avengers movie comes after the World Security Council decide to Nuke the city of New York to destroy the Chitauri army invading it. Nick Fury’s trust in his team never wavers when he states “I recognize that the council have made a decision, but given that it’s a stupid ass decision I’ve elected to ignore it.”

Nick Fury showing that his trust in the heroes is greater than his responsibility to his superiors. This was the standout line from Fury in the first movie which makes it a great contender for the number 1 spot.
