Ben Higgins from The Bachelor asked his former fiancé, Lauren Bushnell, for approval on his book Alone in Plain Sight. The former lead seems to be on good terms as Lauren was more than happy to approve the chapter about the couple’s past relationship. Ben and Lauren met during season 20 of the ABC reality series and were happily engaged by the end.
Two years later, the couple announced their breakup to the world which shocked many fans of the show. A couple of years after the split, Lauren went on to marry country singer, Chris Lane, while Ben got recently got engaged to long-time girlfriend, Jessica Clarke. Even though the pair are no longer together they cherish their time together and have no hard feelings over the breakup. This allowed Ben to feel comfortable enough to send Lauren the chapter that involved her.
The 31-year-old may have not found love with his final rose recipient, but they did split on good terms. He was able to reach out to her regarding the book without the interaction being too awkward. “I wrote [the chapter about Lauren] because it is a part of my story. My life doesn’t fully make sense unless you know the entirety of my story,” Ben exclusively told Us Weekly. “So, I wrote it and then I sent it over.” While the former couple has not spoken since their breakup in 2017, Lauren was more than happy to read the particular chapter about her. “She was super gracious,” he revealed. “And she read it and she was, like, encouraging [about it].” Ben admitted that he and Lauren harbor no ill will toward each other seeing as they have both moved on and are in new relationships.
Lauren is even expecting her first child with her husband, Chris. “When I wrote it, it was coming from a place of being healed and fully aware of how it all progressed, and how good it all progressed for both of us,” the reality star added. “And so, she was encouraging in it.” Ben is hoping when fans read the book they will realize that not all parties in a breakup need to feel resentful forever. Time heals all wounds and eventually Ben got to a place where he was able to forgive and move on from the relationship. Ben added that in the moment it may hurt and feel like you will never get over it, but with time better things will come along that will eventually help that pain disappear.
Ben and Lauren got engaged during the season 20 finale, which aired in March 2016. The couple broke up less than two years after the finale aired. Lauren went on to marry in October 2019 with a baby coming June 2021, while Ben recently got engaged in March 2020.
