Former Bachelor lead Ben Higgins is writing a book and many are wondering if it’s a Bachelor tell-all. Unfortunately, Ben will not be spilling the tea on anything that went down at the Bachelor mansion, but he will be opening up about his deep fear of rejection.

Ben Higgins was first introduced to Bachelor fans when he vied for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s heart on The Bachelorette. He later became the season 20 Bachelor and became engaged to now ex-fiancé, Lauren Bushnell. While the two didn’t live happily ever after, Lauren went on to get married to country singer Chris Lane, and Ben is currently engaged to long time girlfriend, Jessica Clarke.

The Bachelor alum opened up to People about his new book, which discusses his deep fear of rejection as well as other similar issues. Ben shared both the cover and some details of his upcoming debut, Alone in Plain Sight: Searching for Connection When You’re Seen and Not Known, and why it is not exactly the Bachelor Nation tell-all everyone was hoping for. The 31 year old tells the publication, “Most people who hear that I’m releasing a book probably expect it to be a Bachelor ‘tell-all,’ but I couldn’t bring myself to do that for my first book. It would be too easy!”

Ben adds that he wanted to write something more honest:”I wanted to write something that matters, something raw and honest, and nothing matters more to me than addressing something I’ve felt deep down my entire life…This book is for those of us, myself included, who struggle with life’s disappointments and unanswerable questions.” His goal with the book, which is set to release February 21, 2021, is to connect with those who feel the same pain he has his whole life. “Ever since opening up about my feelings of not belonging on national television, strangers share their personal struggles with me all of the time,” he says. “I’ve found that one of the strongest connections we can make is through shared pain and suffering.”

Since childhood, the Denver native has hid a serious fear of rejection. It was not until he came on the show that he was able to reveal his fear. “Even though most people know me from my time on The Bachelor (and things I’ve done since), I’ve had a deep fear of being rejected since I was a little kid. And I didn’t even really know it.” Ben adds that the book is for anyone who has ever felt like they did not belong or has felt rejection like he has. The book is a way for people to connect and not feel alone in their experiences.

Ben is using his book to get people truly connected their identities and needs. And while this book may not be a Bachelor tell-all, there is always the next one!
