The Bachelorette hasn’t been on quite as long as The Bachelor, and actually has had a higher success rate than its predecessor. The engagements/relationships have lasted longer, and more couples have stayed together. However, at the end of the day, a good chunk of couples have gone their separate ways, some after a year together and some mere months after getting down on one knee.

8 Meredith Phillips & Ian McKee (Season 2)

Makeup artist Meredith Phillips was chosen to be the second Bachelorette after being the second runner-up on Bob Guiney’s season of The Bachelor. She ultimately chose to be with 29-year-old salesman Ian McKee and accepted his proposal in the finale episode.

Just as the third Bachelorette season was gearing up to air, Meredith and Ian issued a joint statement to Extra announcing that they had decided to end their relationship. They were vague in the details about their split, but asked for privacy as they moved forward after being together for a year.

7 Jillian Harris & Ed Swiderski (Season 5)

Canadian Jillian Harris was the first non-American lead of The Bachelorette, and accepted a proposal by tech consultant Ed Swiderski in the fifth season finale.

The couple remained together with plans to marry for the next year, but broke up in July of 2010. At the time there were rumors that Ed had cheated on the former Bachelorette which led to her moving out of their shared home, though these allegations were never confirmed. Since their breakup, Ed and Jillian have both gotten married to other people and started families.



6 Andi Dorfman & Josh Murray (Season 10)

Just six months after sharing their engagement news, Andi and Josh broke up. In her memoir It’s Not Okay, Andi detailed many factors as being the reason behind their breakup. One of which being her strong connection and sexual relationship while on the show with runner-up Nick Viall.

5 DeAnna Pappas & Jesse Csincsak (Season 4)

DeAnna Pappas became The Bachelorette after being rejected by Brad Womack on his first season of The Bachelor. DeAnna’s final rose came down to two men; professional snowboarder Jesse Csinsak and future Bachelor and account executive, Jason Mesnick. DeAnna chose to get engaged to Jesse, and the pair stayed together for four months after the finale aired.

DeAnna and Jesse had a wedding date set for May of 2009, but sadly broke up six months before were due to wed. 4 Clare Crawley & Dale Moss (Season 16)

Sadly, Dale and Clare announced that they decided to go their separate ways three months after announcing their engagement. The two got back together not long after, but broke up for good in September 2021.

3 Emily Maynard & Jef Holm (Season 8)

Single mother Emily Maynard was the eighth Bachelorette and ultimately accepted the proposal of 27-year-old Jef Holm over future Bachelor and professional racecar driver Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Emily later revealed that she was hesitant to be the lead of the show, but had no regrets because she truly did find love with Jef, the pair just wasn’t meant to be in the end.

2 Katie Thurston & Blake Moynes (Season 17)

After revealing on After The Final Rose that they were still happily engaged and looking to split time between Katie’s home in San Diego and Blake’s Canadian homeland, Katie and Blake sparked breakup rumors after they hadn’t interacted on social media in a while. Suspicions were confirmed when Katie and Blake issued a joint statement announcing their breakup, just two months after sharing their engagement news.

1 Hannah Brown & Jed Wyatt (Season 15)

Hannah Brown was a beloved Bachelorette for shutting down villains of her season like Luke P. and having multiple passionate romances with contestants like Peter Weber and Tyler Cameron.

Ultimately, the Alabama native chose musician Jed Wyatt as the recipient of her final rose and accepted his proposal during the finale. However, the pair called it quits just weeks after getting engaged before the show had even aired after allegations surfaced that Jed had a girlfriend at home during the entire duration of filming.
