The Elder Scrolls Online seems to be working with Chip Theory Games on an unannounced project, according to a new set of cryptic tweets. CTG is a well-known board game designer, popular for creations such as Too Many Bones, Cloudspire, and Triplock – although it sounds as if The Elder Scrolls will soon be joining its catalog.
Earlier this week, Chip Theory Games confirmed some sort of collaboration with Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios. Tweeting out a single image of the iconic ESO logo, the message reads, “More info coming 2022.” A link is then provided to sign up to receive notifications directly from Chip Theory.
The Elder Scrolls Online has a lot happening in 2021 – the Blackwood Chapter launches in just a few weeks – so it makes sense the team wouldn’t want to make further announcements until things are slowing down with its popular MMO. Still, we can’t help but wonder what an ESO board game would look like. Would it be a simple reskin of an existing game? Or something entirely new?
At any rate, it’s best not to get too excited. Neither company seems ready to discuss the game, and it sounds like they won’t be until at least 2022.
Until then, you can try your hand at a bit of Orlog – the dice game from Assassin’s Creed which recently saw a full-fledged physical release. Only 500 units were made, but they look damn impressive, nonetheless.
Or, you can bide time with the upcoming launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Chapter. This expansion takes you back to Leyawiin from Oblivion and features a new questline oozing with political intrigue and murder mysteries. We recently had a chance to go hands-on with the game and found it to be another solid chapter in the ESO saga. The Companion System is its standout feature, giving you the chance to enlist an NPC follower to tag along on your adventures.
