The latest Flash film set within the DCEU is set to explore the Flashpoint narrative that famously interfered with the timeline in DC Comics. Cementing The Legacy Of John Wesley Shipp

John Wesley Shipp is one of the most celebrated actors behind the Crismon Comet. The actor originally portrayed the Flash on TV in the 1990s but has since made multiple appearances as the original Barry Allen, Jay Garrick, and Henry Allen. Only Jay Garrick remains alive in the current Multiverse.

However, the DC Multiverse seemingly relies on Shipp to usher in the new generation of Scarlet Speedsters. While he’s not currently on the confirmed The Flash cast list, it would be important for the Multiverse itself to see the ’90s Barry Allen return in some form thanks to Flashpoint.

Including Three Jokers

DC Comics has portrayed multiple variations of the Joker on the page, with the Three Jokers narrative becoming a major landmark event in the source material. The new Multiversal interference thanks to Flashpoint could allow this terrifying tale to become a reality.

The Joker solo film, the DCEU and Gotham have all given fans compelling variations of the Clown Prince of Crime. Flashpoint could ultimately lead to all three of them terrifying the Multiverse, teaming up together in a way audiences have never seen on screen before.

Incorporating A New Batman

Both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s versions of Batman will be making appearances in Flashpoint, but there needs to be a definitive Caped Crusader for audiences to focus on moving forward. It might not be either of these contenders once the credits roll.

With Robert Pattison suiting up in The Batman, this might be the perfect opportunity to set up the World’s Greatest Detective as a beacon of justice across multiple realities. It appears that DC and Warner Bros. have a lot of faith in the project. Pattison might ultimately be the Dark Knight of the far future.

Widening The Flash’s Supporting Cast

Flash doesn’t have a huge supporting cast right now, but the likes of Supergirl are being brought into even the playing field. Of course, the Multiverse may be used for this purpose once more in the future, in a similar capacity to how the Arrowverse has used it.

Supporting characters, minor heroes, and villains are easily introduced when they come from another timeline. Supergirl might be brought onto the scene in this capacity which opens the doors to other crossovers and easy debuts in the future. With the Multiverse open each DCEU project can be rounded out with any character the creative team wishes to have.

Introducing The Dark Multiverse

If the DCEU is introducing the Multiverse officially to the big screen, then they might also be adding the Dark Multiverse, which has been conceived on the page only in recent years. Among the roster of evildoers, The Batman Who Laughs has been established as one of the Dark Knight’s most terrifying foes.

The Dark Multiverse opens up a lot of storytelling potential, but it is this terrifying torturer who would bring the most to the table. The future of the DC Multiverse would definitely feel well-established as a paradox to the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse if the Dark aspect of the concept is brought in.

Securing The Arrowverse

Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller’s iterations of Barry Allen have previously crossed over on Crisis on Infinite Earths. If Gustin got his own chance in the cinematic portrayal of the major Flash story, it would showcase that the Arrowverse still has a place in the future of the Multiverse.

Resetting Continuity

Flashpoint famously reset the timeline within the pages of DC comic books, causing various alterations from what had previously been the reality. This may actually come to impact the whole of the Multiverse if DC wants to go for a company-wide wipe.

If this is the path that the film goes down, then it might have major ramifications for all of the other TV shows and films. Crisis on Infinite Earths already achieved something similar, so a repeat is unlikely but not completely impossible.

If DC pulls the trigger on legitimizing the Snyder Cut universe, then there’s a possibility for Warner Bros. to produce a sequel without it interfering with the events of the Earth traditionally portrayed in the DCEU. Darkseid could well be a Multiversal threat though.

Returning Old Franchises

The DC multiverse wouldn’t be complete without crossovers and cameos that confirm two aspects of the franchise can take place at the same time. The return of previous Batmen is already a signal that DC is willing to look back on these alternative takes.

Fans will likely want to see joke cameos like that of Green Lantern, alongside serious contenders such as Christian Bale’s version of Batman (or at the very least Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Robin). This would confirm that everything is on the table in the future of the Multiverse.

Setting Up Worlds Of DC

The Worlds Of DC has been a marketing campaign that Warner Bros. began a while ago. The basic premise appears to be that creatively the studio can produce any DC film or TV show, and audiences can buy into that story without worrying too much about other continuity.

A simple way to legitimize that idea is through a Multiverse, which really has been secured on TV but hasn’t fully made an impact in cinema. If Flashpoint does confirm the Multiverse in a major way though, the likes of a Joker sequel, The Batman, and something like Black Adam can also continue alongside one another without issue.
