Brody Jenner is welcoming his ex and The Hills: New Beginnings co-star to motherhood. The 33-year-old reality star had a rollercoaster relationship with the OG cast member when they announced their split in the midst of the first season of The Hills: New Beginnings airing. According to the duo, they couldn’t find a mutual ground on important life events such as starting a family. The couple also often struggled to deal with confusing rumors about their desire to have an open relationship. More shockingly, reports of their split revealed they never actually got legally married. They did celebrate their love with a beautiful ceremony in Bali, but it wasn’t considered legitimate in the United States as neither party completed the necessary paperwork. Ultimately, the two ended their relationship about a year after their big day, and were forced to continue filming the sophomore season of the MTV series together.

Moving forward, Kaitlynn finally built the family she’s always dreamed about with her current boyfriend, Kristopher Brock. Kaitlynn originally announced her pregnancy in a cute Instagram post showcasing her and Kristopher’s shadows as they both cradled her baby bump. The couple was staying at the Esperanza Resort, Auberge location in Mexico when the photos were taken. Months later and Kaitlynn shared that she gave birth with a photo of herself nursing her newborn son. “Our chunky little guy, Rowan Carter Brock, was born 9/30/21,” she wrote on Instagram. While this is Kaitlynn’s first bundle of joy, Kristopher is also a father to his 6-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Almost a week after Kaitlynn announced she’s officially a mother, Brody is acknowledging the baby on Instagram. “Congrats Kait! You are gonna be the best mom,” Brody said. Following his comment, Brody’s mother, Linda Thompson, commented on Kaitlynn’s photo in agreement with her son, adding that she loves his name and she’s so excited to meet him.

Brody’s public acknowledgement of the baby is a big deal as fans will remember that though Kaitlynn was ecstatic over her pregnancy, producers told her to share her news with Brody in front of MTV’s cameras, which was especially daunting as future children were a big reason behind their breakup. Brody ended up being happy for his former bride, but was extremely hurt that he was one of the last cast members to find out she was expecting. “Of course it’s hurtful to see all of these other people that seem to know that she’s pregnant and not me,” Brody said in the episode that aired in July. “A baby was such a big part of our relationship and talk in our relationship. I don’t need to be the first one to know, but I think I should be in the top 10.” Kaitlynn didn’t mean to hurt her ex’s feelings, but was rather nervous to tell him the news as it felt like “one final nail in the coffin.” After she finally built up the courage to tell Brody what the situation was, he questioned how well she actually knew her ex.

All in all, it seems like Brody is happy for Kaitlynn going after the life she’s always wanted, and he couldn’t provide. MTV has yet to announce another season of The Hills: New Beginnings, but it would be interesting to watch the moment Brody meets Kaitlynn’s son. Who knows, maybe the heart-warming moment will actually change Brody’s opinion on kids of his own.
