The Last of Us’ HBO series continues to come together, as the roles of Bill and Frank have been filled by Con O’Neil and Murray Bartlett respectively. Jeffrey Pierce, the actor for Tommy in the video game, will return as Perry.

According to Deadline, the actors will join Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the upcoming retelling of The Last of Us. Both O’Neil and Barlett’s roles, Bill and Frank, were already characters feature in the game. You meet Bill in the original game, but it sounds like, given Frank’s casting, the character may be reworked for the show. Deadline describes the roles as “two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town.”

Jeffrey Pierce will also join the cast, but perhaps not in the way you’d expect. In the video game, Pierce did the work for Tommy Miller’s voice and motion capture, but Tommy will be played by Gabriel Luna in the HBO series. This time, Pierce will be a recurring character, Perry, which Deadline describes as “a rebel in a quarantine zone.”

HBO’s adaption of the first Last of Us game continues to move along smoothly after its rocky beginnings with a director change. Earlier this year, we learned that The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal would join the cast as Joel himself, and his Game of Throne’s costar, Bella Ramsey, would join as Ellie.

While the show doesn’t have a date just yet, we do know a few extra details about what to expect. Back in March, The Last of Us creative director and writer Neil Druckman confirmed that the first season of the show would only adapt the first game, and that first season will be ten episodes long.

It sounds like the HBO series will once again send us all into a fit of tears, too. Gabriel Luna recently took to Instagram to post a photo from the set, showing the family early on all hanging out in their car. It’s obvious where the moment is leading, and we’ll soon have to relive The Last of Us’ heartbreaking opening again, but this time in live action.
