The Legend of Dragoon community soldiers on with their dedication to this game that is over 20 years old. It wasn’t too long ago that we discovered a fan remake of The Legend of Dragoon in RPG maker. If that wasn’t impressive enough, some fans have been working hard on an upscale project, essentially taking The Legend of Dragoon remake matters into their own hands.

Just this week, one of the developers in the community, Zychronix, uploaded a video that displays the progress they’ve made on upscaling the Death City of Mayfil from The Legend of Dragoon. The video shows Dart in a bunch of different locations within the city, and we get to watch the transition from the appearance of the original game to what the upscale version looks like—and it’s gorgeous.

You might not have noticed how unclear the details were until you’ve watched this video and experienced for yourself how truly beautiful the game could be. A few months back, Zychronix also uploaded a video previewing the upscale version of Aglis the Magic City as well, and it isn’t any less impressive.

In addition to working on the upscale project, the community has also recently started up a Legend of Dragoon podcast. The podcast is hosted by community manager, Drew Universe, and it is set to include a wide range of guests from casual to hardcore fans, loremasters, game mechanic specialists, speedrunners, content creators, and more. The podcast is available on a bunch of different platforms. You can figure out which works for you and learn more about it here.

While some Legend of Dragoon fans have been discouraged by the years that have passed without any official hint of a remake, the petition stands at 27,859 signatures and will hopefully continue to grow as the game continues to receive publicity in 2021 and into 2022. Furthermore, other dedicated fans have formally pledged their allegiance to reviving the game, so all hope is not yet lost.
