Writer/director James Gunn shares a closer look at a warning sign within Belle Reve prison from the set of DC’s The Suicide Squad. Following his work on Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Gunn has made a name for himself championing little-known, oddball comic book characters. In his follow-up to David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad, newcomers Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), and Nanaue aka King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) joined Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) Task Force X alongside Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney).

Embracing The Suicide Squad’s concept, which sees criminals embark on deadly missions in exchange for reduced prison time, Gunn dove deep into DC’s vast rogues’ gallery for his first foray into the DC Extended Universe. That being said, Belle Reve, the infamous DC prison facility used to contain metahuman criminals, serves as Task Force X’s pool of candidates and base of operations. All of The Suicide Squad’s new members are Belle Reeve inmates — from Bloodsport and Peacemaker, to Weasel and T.D.K. — and scenes within the facility offer a fair amount of exposition at the beginning of the film.

Gunn recently took to Instagram to share a closer look at a warning sign hanging in Belle Reve prison that audiences likely missed while watching The Suicide Squad. Given the plethora of abilities possessed by the inmates of the prison, the warning sign outlines all of that powers prohibited and, if exhibited, will lead to solitary confinement. Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man) commented on the post to highlight one particularly strange demand: “Absolutely NO inter-dimensional virus bodily evacuation.” Check it out below:

Even though Gunn is starting production on the highly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the director continues to hype his DC projects on social media; something he’s been doing since the jump. Gunn has always been extremely active online, sharing behind-the-scenes tidbits and answering questions from fans. In the wake of The Suicide Squad’s home release, the filmmaker shared details of how the art department decorated Peacemaker’s cell and a video of how the team created footprints for King Shark. The above look inside Belle Reve is yet another example of Gunn’s enthusiasm, which will inevitably carry over into future DCEU projects.

After Gunn delivers The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and before his conclusion to the Guardians MCU trilogy, his series Peacemaker will debut on HBO Max on January 13. Piggybacking off The Suicide Squad’s post-credits scene, which revealed Cena’s Peacemaker to be alive, the series will explore the twisted patriot’s origin while he attempts to “save the f—ing world” alongside Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and John Economos (Steve Agee) in the present day. Given Gunn’s propensity for sharing behind-the-scenes content, viewers can likely expect plenty of sneak peeks at this latest DC project in the coming weeks, too; some of which may connect to more tidbits about Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
