Eastasiasoft has announced that Sense – A Cyberpunk Ghost Story will be hitting the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Sense is a 2.5D horror adventure set in Neo Hong Kong, 2083, that follows Mei-Lin Mak as she attempts to solve a gruesome century-old mystery. Naturally, ghosts are involved. Mei must dodge malicious ghosts while she explores the city’s abandoned Chong Sing Apartments, piecing together clues that illuminate the lives of the building’s 14 residents turned restless spirits.

Mei can rely only on her cybernetic eyes as Neo Hong Kong’s restless dead and her own family’s mysterious curse begin to play tricks with her senses. Sense melds Cantonese tradition with dystopic industrialization to create a unique horror narrative that will chill and thrill players.

Based on the trailer and game descriptions, Sense will be something of a walking interactive game, with plenty of point-and-click mechanics. The developers have encouraged players to interact with everything to further the story and uncover more of Neo Hong Kong, both past and present.

One of the game’s more notable features—or lack thereof—is combat. Although malicious spirits will plague Mei left and right, she will only be able to dispel them by helping them move on. Players will need to give offerings, build and pray at shrines, or solve the mysteries binding ghosts to the mortal realm in order to move past them.

Of course, you can still die in the game. Sense’s take on ghostbusting is part and parcel with the game’s commitment to creating a horror experience that relies on instilling a slow, creeping sense of dread rather than over the top action and jump scares.

Avid Kickstarter followers may recognize Sense as one of the games that was successfully funded back in 2019. Sense notably raised over six times its intended goal of $10,000, and according to its Kickstarter, will include Japanese, Russian, and Spanish localizations, voice acting, and two additional bonus chapters that will be available as free DLCs after the game’s launch.

According to its Steam page, Sense will launch in August and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One.
