The Trickle Release Schedule In Pokémon GO Is Ruining The Adventure

The gradual release of Pokémon in Pokémon GO is getting tiresome and risks the long term future of the game.

There’s no arguing the fact that Pokémon GO has been and continues to be a huge success. One of the main reasons that has been the case is due to Niantic constantly updating, adapting, and adding to the game. Since launch, the developer has added a long list of new features, and altered existing ones that didn’t work well or weren’t welcomed warmly by the game’s players.

However, one of the ways in which Niantic goes about things in Pokémon GO that it has decided to change is beginning to wear thin. The gradual release of Pokémon. Almost all of Gen I could be found in the wild when the game first hit our phones. It took a while, but that was eventually followed up by the release of Gen II. Again, not in its entirety, but almost the whole generation of Pokémon all in one go.

That has not really been the case since, especially when it comes to Gen V. The Unova region is home to more original Pokémon than any other generation before or since. However, Niantic has been drip-feeding Pokémon GO’s players when it comes to releasing those Pokémon into the wild.

During those first few generations, only special and legendary Pokémon were held back. Fast forward to today and there appears to be little rhyme or reason as to which Pokémon are saved for later. Trainers are given a weekend to catch as many of a new Pokémon as they possibly can, only for that Pokémon to then all-but disappear afterward. Look no further than Gothita and Solosis for very annoying examples of that.

Pokémon’s mantra ever since it first found its way into our lives has been Gotta Catch ‘Em All. However, Pokémon GO’s new mantra appears to be catch ’em while you can, and when we say it’s okay to do so. Releasing 80-100 Pokémon at a time gives players plenty to do for weeks, if not months, especially if a few of those Pokémon are hard to come by. The system Niantic employs right now gives trainers something to do for a day, maybe two, then a long wait until they can do that again.
