The Voice’s newest coach Ariana Grande has finally been granted a five-year restraining order against her stalker. The stalker is accused of terrorizing and threatening the singer multiple times over the course of 2021. As troubling as this year’s event is, it is not the first time the singer has had to seek legal action against a stalker.

Fidel Henriquez was arrested for sneaking onto the singer’s property in March of 2020. He went through Ariana’s trash and attempted to deliver a note to the singer. The note disclosed that the man wanted to kill the pop star. Two months after the incident, a five-year restraining order was granted to Ariana and her mother, Joan Grande. A similarly disturbing string of incidents occurred the following year. A man named Aharon Brown trespassed onto Ariana’s property in the early hours of the morning on September 10, 2021. He wielded a large knife and demanded to see the singer. Ariana claimed that Aharon threatened to kill both her and her mother, and that he had been showing up to her home for several months leading up to his eventual arrest. After Aharon was arrested, Ariana was granted a temporary restraining order against him but was told that she would have to wait to receive a permanent restraining order.

While concerns for the Thank U, Next singer’s safety linger, some relief was delivered this week. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reginald Neal granted Ariana a restraining order against Aharon. While it is not permanent, the protection order is said to expire on October 5, 2026, after five years. The order was granted after comments were made by members of the singer’s security team. According to court documents filed on October 5, which were obtained by Insider, the knife-brandishing stalker must stay at least 100 feet away from Ariana.

Additionally, Aharon must stay at least 100 feet away from Ariana’s home and her place of work, as well as from her husband, Dalton Gomez. The court order stated that the stalker must not attempt to find out where Ariana is at any time and must not attempt to contact her “either directly or indirectly, in any way including, but not limited to, in person, by telephone, in writing, by public or private mail, by interoffice mail, by e-mail, by text message, by fax or by electronic means.” The order also stated that the stalker must not “harass, intimidate, molest, attack, strike, stalk, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise), hit, abuse, destroy personal property of or disturb the peace of” Ariana or Dalton. Aharon is also not allowed to have a firearm, and any attempts at purchasing or obtaining one may result in jail time or a fee of $1,000.

While attempts to attack internationally recognized superstars are not exactly a newly occurring phenomenon, the repeated attempts to harm Ariana remain troubling to many. The newly granted restraining order will most likely provide some relief to Ariana and her family, but concerns surrounding the icon’s well-being will most likely remain on the minds of both parties at risk as well as of fans. In spite of the fact that Ariana has now lived through a variety of life-threatening events, she continues to keep her spirits up and has delivered her A-game at every single opportunity, both on The Voice and elsewhere. Ariana, with her immense resilience, has proven to be one of the strongest women the pop world has ever seen.
